Tony Dalton, who co-starred in Hawkeye, announces that he will be returning for Daredevil: Born Again.
Tony Dalton portrayed a menacing villain in Better Call Saul, but the seasoned actor took on a much lighter role as Jack Duquesne in the original series Hawkeye from Marvel Studios. Dalton has now confirmed that he will reprise his role as Jack in Daredevil: Born Again.
In an Instagram Story shared via Total Film, Dalton posted a photo of himself from Hawkeye alongside an image of Jack Duquesne’s comic-book version, The Swordsman, with the Daredevil: Born Again logo superimposed on both images. He captioned it with “It’s on!,” but offered no further details. It remains uncertain whether Dalton's return will be in this upcoming season or in the second season, which is set to begin filming soon.
While Swordsman served as one of Hawkeye’s mentors in the Marvel comic universe, their initial encounter in the MCU happened when Jack caught Clint Barton/Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) infiltrating the penthouse belonging to Kate’s mother—who is also Jack’s fiancée—Eleanor Bishop (Vera Farmiga).
Kate initially believed Jack to be a criminal, but it was ultimately her mother who had connections to Wilson Fisk/Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio). This connection might intertwine the two series, despite Jack supposedly ending his relationship with Eleanor after her arrest due to illegal activities. Jack also revealed a heroic side when he assisted Clint and the LARPers in battling Kingpin’s Tracksuit Mafia in the final episode.
D’Onofrio had significant roles in the first and third seasons of Daredevil during its run on Netflix. Born Again takes place years later as Fisk campaigns for mayor of New York City, eventually leading to renewed contact with his former nemesis, Matt Murdock/Daredevil, as shown in a recently released preview clip.
Daredevil: Born Again will debut with a two-episode premiere on March 4, followed by weekly releases on Disney+.
