Omar Sy from Lupin will feature in Netflix's Extraction series.

      The action film Extraction and its sequel, Extraction 2, performed exceptionally well for Netflix upon their releases in 2020 and 2023, respectively. Although there has been no confirmation regarding Chris Hemsworth's return for a third Extraction installment, Netflix is keeping the franchise active by creating an Extraction series featuring Omar Sy in the lead role.

      According to Variety, the Extraction series will continue the storyline established in the two previous films. The franchise is inspired by the graphic novel Ciudad, created by writer and artist Ande Parks. Since Sy did not appear in the earlier Extraction films, he will likely portray a new character in the series.

      Sy is also the star of Netflix's Lupin, which is expected to return with new episodes in the future. His past credits include films like X-Men: Days of Future Past, Jurassic World, The Killer, and Chocolat.

      Glen Mazzara, the former showrunner of The Walking Dead, will serve as the writer and showrunner for Extraction. He will also be an executive producer for the series alongside Anthony Russo and Joe Russo through their AGBO production company. Additional executive producers include Angela Russo-Otstot, Scott Nemes, Chris Castaldi, and Sam Hargrave, who directed the two Extraction films.

      Peter Friedlander from Netflix stated, “Audiences are in for a thrill as we delve deeper into the Extraction universe. With Omar Sy leading the charge, our collaboration with the Russos, alongside Glen Mazzara, fans can expect even more of the high-octane adventures they love from the Extraction franchise.”

      Netflix has yet to announce a release date for the Extraction series or when filming will commence.
