      Part of Google Workspace and powered by Gemini and Google’s Nano Banana image generator, Pics aims to make creating professional-quality visuals possible even for those without design expertise.

      Google Pics is entering a saturated market. Canva already features tools like Magic Edit and Magic Eraser for individual object adjustments, as well as Magic Switch for AI-based translation integrated within its resizing tool. Similarly, Adobe Express offers capabilities via Firefly, enabling object insertion and its own translation feature, but with less seamless integration into the workflow.

      The true strength of Pics lies in its integration within Workspace, although Canva is also moving in that direction. Users can click on a specific object in an image and specify the desired changes while leaving everything else intact.

      Text within an image can be modified or translated in 29 languages while maintaining the original font and layout. Pics can also produce multiple variations from a single prompt, upscale images to 4K resolution, and crop for various platforms, allowing team collaboration on the same design.

      Pics has its own dedicated site but is fully integrated into Google Docs and Slides. By clicking on an image in either app, users can access the complete editing toolkit without needing to switch tabs. Drive integration is anticipated soon.
