PlayStation Plus is set to include Sniper Elite: Resistance, along with a JRPG that deserves your attention.
Sony has announced its PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for September, and the standout title is Sniper Elite: Resistance. This World War II stealth shooter will be available alongside MLB The Show 26, Wobbly Life, and the highly regarded indie JRPG Chained Echoes.
All four titles can be accessed from September 1 through October 5. Our review rated Sniper Elite: Resistance a 7 out of 10, noting that while it doesn’t bring significant changes from Sniper Elite 5, the series’ combination of stealth, expansive levels, and action-packed killcams remains effective.
Sniper Elite maintains its strong points
Resistance occurs concurrently with Sniper Elite 5, featuring Harry Hawker as the main character rather than the long-time protagonist Karl Fairburne. He collaborates with the French Resistance in occupied France to thwart another Nazi superweapon scheme.
The game’s narrative is not particularly striking, but its level design shines. The eight main missions are situated in spacious environments, offering multiple methods to tackle objectives—whether by stealthily eliminating guards from afar or infiltrating buildings through various paths.
The complete campaign can also be played cooperatively. Axis Invasion allows an additional sniper to join the campaign, while competitive multiplayer upholds battles for up to 16 players. There’s also a four-player Survival mode for a less stealthy experience.
Chained Echoes stands out as a hidden gem
MLB The Show 26 enhances September’s offerings with its Road to the Show and Diamond Dynasty modes for PS5, and PlayStation Plus members will receive a Jump Start Bundle with bonus packs for both modes.
Chained Echoes is likely the more intriguing smaller addition. This 16-bit-style JRPG features turn-based combat, pixel art, mechs, and extensive exploration. Its narrative may divide opinions among players, but the combat mechanics and side activities have garnered significant acclaim.
Wobbly Life completes the lineup for the month with its quirky open-world sandbox, which supports up to four players either locally or online. PlayStation Plus members have until August 31 to claim August’s offerings, which include Dying Light 2 Stay Human: Reloaded Edition, Big Walk, and Signalis.
