The Galaxy S27 Ultra from Samsung might be undergoing a redesign, beginning with its large camera protrusion.

      Samsung's upcoming Ultra phone may appear familiar from the front, but a recently leaked set of CAD renders indicates that the company is gearing up for one of its most significant rear redesigns in years.

      The images, released by Android Headlines and credited to leaker OnLeaks, show what is purported to be the Galaxy S27 Ultra, featuring a new camera layout, a slightly altered body, and hints about the direction Samsung’s flagship may take in 2027.

      The most noticeable modification pertains to the camera. Samsung seems to be shifting away from the traditional vertically aligned lens design in favor of a raised camera plateau that stretches across the top part of the device. The arrangement depicted in the renders includes three rear cameras, suggesting that Samsung might finally eliminate the 10-megapixel 3x telephoto camera and instead utilize a 50MP 5x telephoto option.

      According to Android Headlines, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is projected to measure approximately 163.76 x 78.25 x 7.97mm, making it slightly larger but generally similar to its predecessor. However, with the camera bump included, the overall thickness could reach 12.53mm. The enlarged plateau may provide Samsung with extra space for camera hardware, cooling, and other internal components, although final dimensions remain unverified.

      The leaked specs indicate a 6.9-inch display, a battery around 5,700mAh, and the potential use of silicon-carbon battery technology. Camera hardware may feature Samsung's ISOCELL HP6 main sensor and a 50MP Sony IMX55 ultrawide sensor. The renders also seem to confirm that the S Pen will continue to be included.

      Samsung is expected to employ Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship processor, rumored to be named the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Extreme, though the Exynos 2700 could reportedly be available in certain markets.
