Apple is eliminating over 200 positions among teams focused on Vision Pro, Siri, and AI software as the company adjusts some of its largest hardware and software initiatives.

The Vision Pro division is experiencing particularly significant cuts. According to Bloomberg, around 100 jobs are being eliminated from the team responsible for the headset, including personnel involved in gaming and immersive video content. This extensive restructuring also affects Apple’s software divisions, with job losses occurring within Siri and the Intelligent Systems Experience team, which is part of the company's expanding AI projects.

The Vision Pro is facing the most significant job losses.

These layoffs contribute to a growing trend indicating that Apple is scaling back its initial ambitions for the Vision Pro. AppleInsider previously reported that at least 60 employees linked to Apple’s VR initiatives had been laid off. Bloomberg’s recent update suggests that the number of impacted Vision Pro roles is nearing 100.

Neither the gaming nor the high-cost immersive content has provided the boost to Vision Pro that Apple anticipated. Bloomberg mentions that producing individual 3D video episodes can cost several million dollars, even though the headset caters to a relatively limited audience. Consequently, Apple is reducing its in-house production of such content.

The headset is not being abandoned, however. Staff have reportedly been informed that Vision Pro and visionOS will proceed, and another version of the Vision Pro may debut as soon as late 2028.

Apple is shifting its focus to other priorities.

Smart glasses are increasingly among those priorities. The company’s first model, known internally as N50, might be introduced at WWDC 2027, with an official release later that year. The project has reportedly faced delays partly because Apple is still addressing privacy issues associated with integrating cameras into glasses.

Siri is undergoing its own transformation as Apple develops a new AI-powered version of the assistant. This revamp is also altering the organizational structure for the teams working on it.

While the Vision Pro is not being discontinued, the loss of around 100 jobs amid Apple’s increasing focus on smart glasses is another indication that the headset is no longer the primary focus of the company’s investment.

The new Microsoft Recommended Search Settings utility extends Bing’s presence to browsers beyond Microsoft Edge.

It seems that Microsoft was not satisfied with merely making Bing the default search engine within Windows and Edge, as it has created a standalone application to encourage users to incorporate Bing into other browsers as well. Named Microsoft Recommended Search Settings, this Windows 11 utility allows users to install Bing extensions and modify search settings in browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.

HP’s $600 OmniBook 3 OLED laptop is a compelling alternative to the MacBook Neo with impressive battery claims.

The HP OmniBook 3 competes closely with the MacBook Neo in terms of hardware.

Despite its $100 price increase in late June, Apple's MacBook Neo still ranks among the most highly recommended laptops for students, casual users, and budget-conscious shoppers. HP’s latest OmniBook 3 is now positioning itself as a robust alternative for Windows users.

As highlighted by NotebookCheck, the HP OmniBook 3 is priced at $599.99, undercutting the MacBook Neo by $100 while offering an OLED display, a larger battery, and a Snapdragon X processor at that price. Additionally, it is currently available at an even lower price at Best Buy, making it a particularly appealing offer at this time.

Amazon’s Echo, Kindle, and Fire TV have recently seen significant price increases.

Rising memory costs are making Amazon’s everyday devices more costly.

The ongoing memory crisis has already driven up prices for smartphones, laptops, consoles, and cameras, and now it is affecting smaller everyday gadgets. Amazon has raised prices on various Echo, Kindle, Fire TV, and Eero products, citing the increases are due to escalating costs of memory and storage components.

Some price hikes are quite substantial. For instance, the Echo Dot, which used to cost $49.99, is now priced at $79.99, representing a 60% increase for a device that was previously among the most affordable entries into Amazon’s smart home ecosystem.
