Motorola's sleek new charging puck enters the ranks of Android's compact magnetic accessories.

I’ve been hoping for the magnetic charging trend to move beyond just iPhones and Pixels, and it seems Motorola is preparing to join this movement. Leaker Evan Blass has shared images of an upcoming Moto Snap magnetic wireless charger. This accessory features a slim, circular design with Motorola's batwing logo, a braided cable, and a USB-C connector, resembling the familiar style of MagSafe and Pixelsnap.
Motorola has yet to officially announce the charger, and details such as its price, charging output, and release date are still unclear. However, it comes shortly after the release of the Motorola Edge 70 Max, which is compatible with magnetic charging.
Motorola finally has a phone to support it
Recently, the Edge 70 Max was launched as Motorola’s first device equipped with native 25W Qi2 magnetic wireless charging, meaning the necessary magnets for aligning a compatible charger are integrated into the phone itself. According to Motorola’s specifications, a 25W Qi2 magnetic charger is needed to achieve its maximum wireless charging speed. Therefore, a Moto Snap would serve as a first-party accessory for this feature.
However, the leaked images do not indicate whether the Moto Snap will actually provide the full 25W that the Edge 70 Max can support, so we shouldn't make assumptions just yet. What is evident is that its design is much more portable compared to Motorola's previous upright wireless charging stands, with the puck attaching directly to the back of a compatible phone.
Android could use more of this
Google demonstrated the benefits of native magnetic charging with the introduction of Pixelsnap in the Pixel 10 series. The built-in magnets allow various compatible chargers, stands, grips, wallets, and other accessories to attach without the need for a special case. I believe that this convenience should be available on a significantly larger number of Android devices.
This potential extends beyond just charging, as the magnets enable exciting new accessory possibilities. With the Edge 70 Max, Motorola proved that native Qi2 can exist beyond Google’s premium Pixels. Thus, the introduction of a first-party Moto Snap charger suggests the beginning of a broader accessory strategy from Motorola.

The minimalist phone is gradually evolving back into a smartphone
Every update makes the Minimal Phone 2 more functional yet somewhat less minimal.
While I appreciate the concept of minimalist phones, I understand I might not fully enjoy the reality. I prefer to minimize screen time, yet I’m accustomed to my phone performing everyday tasks efficiently.
That’s why the Minimal Phone 2 piques my interest. It replaces the original's E-paper display with a more fluid 90Hz AMOLED screen, features faster hardware, 5G capability, and improved cameras. If I were to purchase one, I would likely desire many of these enhancements as well. However, when combined, these features make the Minimal Phone appear alarmingly similar to the smartphones it intended to provide an alternative to.

You’ll need a Pixel 11 to experience Android 17’s new feature aimed at reducing mindless scrolling
Pause Point introduces a 10-second delay before launching flagged distracting apps, but currently, it's exclusive to Pixel 11 users.
Earlier this year, Google launched a new Digital Wellbeing feature designed to add a layer of hesitation before mindless scrolling. Named Pause Point, this feature imposes a 10-second delay prior to opening any app you’ve deemed distracting, providing a moment to reassess whether you truly want to access it. Although it was anticipated that this feature would become available on all compatible devices with Android 17, a recent report indicates that it is currently limited to Google's latest flagship models—specifically, the Pixel 11.
Google Pixel 11 will finally allow you to customize your phone's vibrations
Your preferred contacts now have their own unique vibration patterns.
Last year, a teardown of the Google app's APK highlighted the possibility of custom vibration patterns waiting to be activated. That moment has finally arrived. Google has quietly deployed these features with the Pixel 11 series, granting users greater control over how their phone vibrates for calls and notifications.
The teardown indicated distinct vibration settings for ringtones and notifications, and Google has successfully implemented both features in the Pixel 11 lineup. Honestly, it's about time our phones stopped buzzing the same way for all types of alerts.
