Motorola's sleek new charging puck becomes a part of Android's compact magnetic accessories.
**Digital Citizen**
I've been anticipating magnetic charging to expand beyond just being exclusive to iPhone and Pixel devices, and now it appears that Motorola is preparing to enter the market. Leaker Evan Blass has unveiled images of an upcoming Moto Snap magnetic wireless charger. This accessory features a slim circular design with Motorola’s batwing logo, a braided cable, and a USB-C connector, resembling the well-known MagSafe/Pixelsnap aesthetic.
As of now, Motorola has yet to officially announce the charger, and information regarding its price, charging output, and release date is still unclear. However, it comes shortly after the launch of the Motorola Edge 70 Max, which supports magnetic charging.
**Motorola Finally Has a Phone Ready for It**
Recently, the Edge 70 Max was introduced as Motorola’s first device equipped with native 25W Qi2 magnetic wireless charging, meaning the magnets required for alignment with a compatible charger are integrated into the phone itself. Motorola’s specifications confirm that to achieve its maximum wireless charging speed, a 25W Qi2 magnetic charger is necessary. Thus, a Moto Snap would serve as an official companion for this feature.
The leaked images do not clarify whether the Moto Snap provides the full 25W that the Edge 70 Max supports, so it's best not to assume that at this time. What is noticeable is its much more portable design compared to Motorola’s previous upright wireless charging stands, with the puck attaching directly to the back of a compatible phone.
**Android Needs More of This**
Google demonstrated the practicality of native magnetic charging when it launched Pixelsnap with the Pixel 10 series. The built-in magnets allow compatible chargers, stands, grips, wallets, and other accessories to connect without needing a special case. I believe this convenience should be available on many more Android devices.
This applies not only to charging but also to the potential for exciting new accessories. With the Edge 70 Max, Motorola showcased that native Qi2 functionality need not be exclusive to Google’s flagship Pixels. Therefore, having a first-party Moto Snap charger suggests the start of a more extensive accessory strategy for Motorola.

**The Minimalist Phone Is Slowly Transitioning Back into a Smartphone**
With every upgrade, the Minimal Phone 2 becomes increasingly user-friendly but also somewhat less minimalist.
I find minimalist phones conceptually appealing, but I’m aware that I rely on my phone for completing everyday tasks quickly and easily. This is what draws me to the Minimal Phone 2; it replaces the original model’s E-paper display with a smoother 90Hz AMOLED screen, as well as faster hardware, 5G, and improved cameras. If I were to purchase one, I would likely want most of these upgrades, too. The issue is that when all of these enhancements are combined, the Minimal Phone begins to resemble the smartphones it aimed to be an alternative to.

**You'll Need a Pixel 11 to Experience Android 17's New Feature to Reduce Mindless Scrolling**
Pause Point adds a 10-second delay before launching apps that you've marked as distracting, but currently, this feature is only available to Pixel 11 owners.
Earlier this year, Google unveiled a new Digital Wellbeing feature designed to create a barrier between you and aimless scrolling. Named Pause Point, this feature imposes a 10-second pause before opening an app you've identified as distracting, allowing you a moment to reconsider your decision. While it was anticipated that this feature would be available on all eligible devices running Android 17, recent reports indicate that it is currently limited to Google's latest flagship devices.

**Google Pixel 11 Will Finally Let You Customize Your Phone's Vibration**
Now your favorite contacts can have their own unique vibration alerts.
Last year, an APK teardown of the Google app hinted at the existence of customizable vibration patterns, and that wait has come to an end. Google has discreetly rolled these features out with the Pixel 11 series, providing users with greater control over how their phones vibrate for calls and notifications. The teardown indicated that separate vibration settings for ringtones and notifications were in the works, and now Google has implemented both features on the Pixel 11 lineup—it's high time our phones stopped buzzing in the same manner for every alert.
