Apple inadvertently disclosed its AirPods that come with a camera.
Your AirPods may soon gain the ability to see what you see. Here's what the leaked demonstration reveals.
Apple is quietly moving closer to introducing AirPods with cameras, and evidence of this has emerged from an unexpected source: a demo video found within the macOS Tahoe 26.7 release candidate. MacRumors uncovered this clip, which provides the clearest insight into how these AirPods might function.
What capabilities will the camera have?
In the brief demonstration, a man holds a book up so the camera embedded in the AirPods can read the title. The accompanying voiceover states that your environment “becomes savable,” and you only need to request a save for anything that captures your attention. Essentially, the camera transmits information directly to Visual Intelligence, allowing Siri to respond to questions about your surroundings and record details for you.
Additionally, there’s a useful safety feature included. If your hair happens to obstruct the AirPods, an alert will notify you to clear it away so the camera can properly see what’s in front of you.
When can we expect these AirPods?
Internally, these camera-equipped AirPods are referred to by the codename B790, which has appeared before. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman previously reported on this product and indicated that it could be launched as early as September. If this timeline holds, we might see these AirPods released alongside the iPhone 18 series, including the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, and the foldable iPhone Ultra.

Moreover, the AirPods aren't the sole surprise in this update. macOS Tahoe 26.7 seemingly alludes to a multitude of other unreleased Apple products, making this release candidate particularly valuable for leakers. While nothing is officially confirmed yet, the leaked footage combined with Gurman’s previous reports makes the prospect of camera-equipped AirPods feel more like a forthcoming reality rather than merely a rumor.
