      The term "AI slop" refers to the type of low-quality, engagement-driven content that now fills social media. The authors characterize it as inexpensive material designed to maximize clicks with minimal human involvement. They describe a genre of AI-generated videos featuring colorful fruit and vegetable characters engaging in cartoonish acts of cruelty, which has attracted significant viewership among young audiences. They note that some of this content adopts the visual style of extremist propaganda, with a recurring character referencing Islamic State imagery. Their concern is that such content may desensitize children to violence, and in rare instances, pave the way towards more extreme material.
