The X6 features larger sensors, advanced AI, and a significant enhancement in processing capability.

Insta360 has introduced its latest flagship model, the X6, which is more than just an upgrade from the previous X5. This new 360 camera has been completely redesigned and incorporates an entirely new sensor, boasting powerful processing hardware and AI functionalities to assist in video editing. Here’s what you need to know about the new Insta360 camera.

      What makes the sensor important?

The X6 is equipped with dual custom 1/1.1″ square sensors from Sony, which are 33% larger than the previous version. This results in more light entering each pixel, improved HDR quality, and a dynamic range now reaching 14.5 stops.

      Insta360

Additionally, it supports native 8K recording at 50 fps for 360 videos. To enhance low-light performance, Insta360 has included new ambient light sensors and a PureVideo Mode that reduces flickering and captures details even in dimly lit situations such as bonfires or star trails.

What other features are included in the Insta360 X6?

Insta360 has packed in numerous upgrades. The X6 operates on a triple-chip architecture: a new 4nm Qualcomm processor along with two dedicated AI imaging chips, claiming a 500% increase in computing power while reducing power consumption by over one-third.

This added power enhances the InstaFrame 2.0 feature, which provides improved and smarter tracking capabilities. With a simple tap, you can focus on a person, pet, or object, and the camera will track it smoothly, effectively replacing a gimbal without the added bulk. When paired with the optional POV Head Tracker, the camera will follow your gaze hands-free.

The battery life has also seen a significant upgrade. The new 2600mAh Xtreme Battery can support up to 140 minutes of 8K recording, and thanks to hyper charging, it can reach 80% in just 24 minutes. The X6 is also waterproof up to 65 feet on its own, reducing the need for a dive case for most underwater shots.

      Insta360

The Insta360 X6 is now available on Insta360’s website. The Standard Bundle is priced at $862.99, which includes the camera, the Xtreme Battery, a USB-C cable, and a protective pouch. It’s a solid offering, though the price seems quite steep for essentially a starter bundle.
