SpaceXAI introduces Grok Bot as the competition for agents shifts to office tasks.

      SpaceXAI has introduced Grok Bot in beta, a system of AI agents that can log into applications and websites, maintain context across tasks, and communicate with one another. Initially, access is available exclusively to SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Ultra, and Cursor Teams Premium subscribers, with an enterprise waitlist in place.

      Grok Bot consists of software that delegates tasks to groups of AI agents operating independently on their own machines. These agents log into various apps and websites, retain context between tasks, and only request human input when necessary. The beta version was launched on Tuesday.

      Access is temporarily limited to SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Ultra, and Cursor Teams Premium subscribers, with a waitlist set up for enterprise users. It operates on macOS, Windows, Linux, and iOS, with Android support expected to come later.

      The key feature is that the agents interact through user interfaces rather than APIs, logging in much like a human would, and multiple agents can operate simultaneously while sharing information with one another. SpaceXAI has reported using these agents internally in engineering, growth, and marketing tasks, including conducting overnight sales research, extracting expense receipts from emails, and fixing bugs.

      In July, TNW reported that Cursor was developing a general-purpose office agent, codenamed Sand, designed to compete with Claude Cowork and ChatGPT Work. The launch of Grok Bot falls within that same competitive space, as SpaceXAI and Cursor combine into a single entity.

      In June, SpaceX finalized a $60 billion all-stock acquisition of Cursor’s parent company, Anysphere, shortly after its own listing, marking what is considered the largest startup acquisition to date. Cursor’s coding tools are already integrated into many Fortune 500 companies.

      This product represents Musk’s response to lagging behind in the agent space. SpaceXAI released its first coding agent in May and followed that with Grok 4.5, developed in collaboration with Cursor, in July.

      Competitors are pursuing similar concepts. OpenAI’s Sam Altman discussed the collaboration of agents when he met with lawmakers in Washington last month.

      Entrusting sign-in credentials to autonomous software raises critical concerns for this particular company. Cursor’s Grok Build tool was noted for uploading entire Git repositories, including sensitive information.

      The pressure is now on SpaceX to deliver. Musk informed investors during last week’s earnings call that advances in AI work are underway and that Grok 4.6 might be released within days. Grok’s slow uptake in Washington has already impacted the IPO narrative.
