Formula E is making its debut on Disney+, introducing electric racing to a larger audience.
A new global streaming agreement has been established just as Formula E transitions into its next-generation GEN4 phase.
Formula E is receiving a significant streaming enhancement. Starting with the 2026-27 season, Disney+ will serve as the global streaming platform for Formula E, making the all-electric racing series accessible to subscribers in 144 regions. This multi-year agreement was announced this week and will also incorporate ESPN and ESPN+ coverage in the United States.
Every race weekend will be available on Disney+
The most notable aspect of the deal is its extensive coverage. Subscribers to Disney+ in the designated markets will have live access to every Formula E race weekend, including practice sessions, qualifying rounds, and the races themselves. The service will also provide on-demand replays and exclusive behind-the-scenes content, allowing Formula E to expand its presence beyond just the events themselves.
The collaboration will commence with the 2026-27 season, starting in December. This upcoming season will feature 21 rounds across 13 events, providing Disney+ with a wealth of live motorsport content. Current local broadcast agreements will remain in place, meaning the Disney+ deal will not entirely replace traditional TV channels in every market.
The timing is noteworthy
Formula E is on the brink of its GEN4 era, and the timing of the Disney agreement aligns perfectly with the series' expansion.
The new GEN4 vehicles are built to be significantly faster, boasting up to 600kW of power and an estimated 0-60mph acceleration time of approximately 1.8 seconds. Formula E asserts that this new generation will mark a substantial technological advancement for the series, and the upcoming season will introduce new race formats, including the shorter E-Prix Unleashed races at select double-header events. This gives Disney something more compelling than just another sports broadcasting deal. The company is acquiring the rights as Formula E embarks on what could be one of its most visually and technically exhilarating periods.
For Disney+, live sports are an increasingly effective method to retain subscribers, and Formula E aligns well with that approach. The electric championship merges motorsport, technology, and sustainability, while Disney+ provides a well-known global platform across 144 regions. For Formula E, the advantages are clear: improved accessibility and the potential for a much larger audience without fans needing to search for various broadcasters in different regions.

Sonos is preparing to introduce its next headphones with enhanced built-in voice controls
Sonos is gearing up to launch a new set of wireless headphones called the Sonos Ace Ultra, and the company appears to be making a more significant investment in AI this time around. The headphones were disclosed through an FCC filing, reported first by Lowpass, though much of the filing has been redacted. Nevertheless, the documents confirm the Ace Ultra designation and suggest that the headphones might be available in up to five colors, a noteworthy change from the original Ace, which was released in 2024 exclusively in black and white.
Spotify is finally distinguishing AI artists, and you’ll notice it immediately
Spotify's new AI Persona badge will identify artist profiles that are based on AI-generated identities beginning in mid-September. I’ve often found myself scrolling past an artist's image on Spotify, assuming there was a real person behind it, only to later discover this assumption was incorrect. That guessing game will soon conclude. Spotify is implementing a new "AI Persona" badge designed to mark artist profiles that are built around AI-generated characteristics (including names, faces, bios, and visual images) rather than actual individuals. The label will be activated across the app starting mid-September.
Samsung’s Galaxy Buds can now serve as hearing aids with customizable sound amplification
Samsung has received FDA clearance for the Galaxy Buds Hearing Aid feature. The company is enhancing its Galaxy Buds by allowing them to function not just as wireless earbuds but also as over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids for adults with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss. This feature is intended for individuals aged 18 and older and does not require a prescription or a visit to a clinic. Samsung states that it can aid users in following conversations in noisy settings, providing basic hearing assistance through a device they may already own.
