After weeks of speculation regarding another round of price increases, Asus and Gigabyte have officially made their price hikes known. They have raised prices across their entire RTX 50 lineup and even for AMD’s Radeon RX 9000 series.
It’s important to note that both companies had already raised prices in January, citing the ongoing shortages of DRAM and NAND memory along with rising costs. Unfortunately, it seems the situation has only deteriorated since then.

How significant is the price hike?
A report from VideoCardz indicates that the latest price increases have severely impacted the best Nvidia GPUs. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090D V2 has seen a price increase of $592 from Gigabyte and $666 from Asus.
Likewise, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti have had price adjustments of $207 to $222 and $222 to $252 from Gigabyte and Asus, respectively. On a lower tier, the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti has seen price adjustments from $96 to $104 and from $74 to $96.
Can you see the trend? Ignoring the price hikes for a moment, Gigabyte seems to be offering its customers some relief, while Asus appears to be more aggressively passing on the increased component costs.
Just how widespread is this?
Entry-level cards such as the GeForce RTX 3050 and RTX 3060 have also undergone price revisions of $44 and $141, respectively. Additionally, prices for AMD cards from Asus, such as the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9060 XT, have been revised by $170 and $74-$96, respectively.
A particular buyer's experience illustrates the dire state of the GPU market currently. A Reddit user’s order for an Asus ROG Astral RTX 5090 priced at $4,429, which was placed through Nvidia’s marketplace, was canceled because Asus informed Nvidia it could no longer deliver the product at that price.
The same card is now listed for $4,982, nearly 2.5 times the original price of Nvidia’s Founders Edition.
If this seems familiar, it is because prices for this generation of GPUs have been steadily approaching double their launch prices. This latest round of increases only confirms that prices have nowhere to go but up for the time being.
