The complete details of the Pixel Watch 5 have leaked ahead of Google's event on August 12.

      Google's Pixel Watch 5 may have an even smaller hardware upgrade than previously thought. Marketing materials and a technical document obtained by MyMobiles, in conjunction with @OnLeaks, reportedly indicate that it features the same Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 processor, a 3,000-nit display, charging speeds, and battery life estimates as the Pixel Watch 4.

      The primary hardware change seems to be an increase in storage to 64GB, double that of last year. Google is also expected to release the watch with Wear OS 7 and slightly larger batteries. The new Gemini and enhanced health features could play a significant role in the capabilities of the forthcoming smartwatch.

      Most of the hardware remains the same.

      The 41mm and 45mm models are said to keep the Actua 360 LTPO AMOLED display, which operates between 1Hz and 60Hz and achieves a brightness of up to 3,000 nits. The Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 processor is also retained, despite earlier expectations that Google would unveil a newer chip for wearables.

      Battery capacity has slightly increased from 325mAh to 332mAh for the 41mm model, and from 455mAh to 465mAh for the 45mm version. However, these minimal increases do not seem to enhance battery life, as Google continues to rate the watches for up to 30 and 40 hours of use, respectively.

      Charging capabilities remain the same. Both sizes are expected to charge to 50% in about 15 minutes, while a full charge takes roughly 45 minutes for the smaller model and one hour for the larger model. An earlier listing on Google Play Console indicated 3GB of RAM, up from 2GB, but the latest documentation does not verify this memory capacity.

      Google is focusing heavily on software.

      The promotional material from Google emphasizes software advancements, starting with Gemini Intelligence. This assistant is said to proactively provide useful information and suggest replies based on the conversations displayed on the watch.

      Health and fitness tracking features are also a key aspect of the presentation. According to the materials, Google claims the Pixel Watch 5 delivers its most precise sleep tracking to date. The watch can assess sleep stages and breathing rates, create a personalized sleep score, and display this information on a morning Insights screen that shows readiness data and the day's weather.

      The Loss of Pulse Detection feature is also notably highlighted. This capability can notify emergency services if it detects that a wearer's pulse is absent, although it is not exclusive to the Pixel Watch 5, having first appeared on the Pixel Watch 3 in certain markets. Satellite SOS is anticipated to return as well, reportedly included for no extra cost for two years after activation.

      The latest report aligns with earlier pricing information from Dealabs. The 41mm Pixel Watch 5 is likely to start at $399 for the Wi-Fi model and $499 for LTE, while the 45mm versions may be priced at $429 and $529. If correct, all U.S. configurations will be more expensive than their Pixel Watch 4 counterparts.

      Google is expected to announce the Pixel Watch 5 on August 12, with wider availability rumored for August 20. Enhanced Wear OS 7 optimization, deeper integration of Gemini Intelligence, and exclusive Pixel software features could still maximize the performance of the aging hardware. However, presently the Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 appears to be a stronger option for Android users, offering superior hardware at a lower price.
