The upcoming official Palworld mobile game is being developed by an unexpected studio.

Pocketpair has recently announced Palworld Online, a mobile MMORPG developed by Garena.

To be frank, my initial thought about Palworld's mobile game was that it might be an uninspired clone that no one wanted. However, I realized I was mistaken. This game genuinely deserves attention for various reasons.

So, what is Palworld Online all about?

Pocketpair has confirmed a new mobile massively multiplayer online role-playing game called Palworld Online, set to launch on iOS and Android later this year. Importantly, this is not the already available Krafton-developed Palworld mobile title you may be familiar with.

Instead, this game is being developed by Garena, a Singapore-based studio with around 15 years of experience creating successful mobile games like Path of Exile, League of Legends, and EA Sports FC, under an official license from Pocketpair. This is what distinguishes it.

The concept is notably ambitious. The developers aim to capture the scale and freedom of the original survival game for mobile devices without sacrificing its core elements. Players can still expect creature collecting, crafting, and base building, as well as co-op, PvP, and PvE multiplayer modes, all directly ported from the PC version.

What’s new and when can you access it?

Rather than merely downsizing the existing game, Garena intends for Palworld Online to introduce a new setting along with additional story content exclusively crafted for mobile. This will include side stories not found in the original game.

Base management will also be improved with simplified touch controls optimized for smaller screens. Pocketpair’s CEO Takuro Mizobe highlighted Garena’s successful track record in managing live mobile games globally to explain the partnership's rationale.

Despite these thrilling announcements, a specific release date remains unknown. However, this game follows closely after the significant 1.0 launch of Palworld and the recent debut of the Palworld card game. It appears that Pocketpair is keen on rapidly expanding this universe.

In my view, delegating mobile spin-offs to specialized studios like Garena, instead of developing them internally, has become a common approach for PC and console games seeking global reach. This strategy also allows Pocketpair to keep its primary development team focused on ongoing updates for the main game.

In other news, Xbox may have an unexpectedly clever strategy to preserve physical games.

According to a leaked Microsoft roadmap, it seems there may be a chance for Xbox users to keep their existing physical game collections intact as the industry trends towards a fully digital library. The roadmap details the planned introduction of Xbox’s Disc-to-Digital program alongside a broader push for backward compatibility. The document reportedly suggests that a general release is slated for August, a full launch of original Xbox games on PC in October, and a gradual rollout for Xbox 360 games starting in 2027.

Pwnage has unveiled a new gaming mouse that allows users to modify click resistance and distance using a screwdriver.

The 49-gram Pwnage Vanta comes with a movable sensor and 8,000Hz wireless polling rate.

Typically, gaming mice let users adjust settings like sensitivity and button assignments through software. The Pwnage Vanta enhances this experience by enabling users to physically alter the feel of primary clicks. The company claims this is the first lightweight gaming mouse with mechanically adjustable clicks; adjusting screws alters the force needed and the motion required for the left and right buttons without changing the switches or adding extra electronics.

MSI has released a white 16-inch gaming laptop featuring a 12GB RTX 5070 and a range of complementary accessories.

MSI's new Crosshair A16 HX MLG Edition is globally available, offering a white-and-red design for one of its mid-range gaming laptops, along with a full set of matching accessories. The MLG designation refers to Mo-Loong-Gi, meaning “Dragon Princess,” and is linked to an original character created by MSI rather than Major League Gaming. What does this special edition laptop include?
