Starting in early 2027, YouTube Premium will incorporate Peacock at no additional charge. This marks Peacock's most significant distribution agreement.
Peacock Premium ($11/month) will be included at no extra cost with YouTube Premium starting in early 2027. This represents Peacock's largest wholesale distribution agreement. NBC Sports will handle the production of live events for YouTube.
Beginning in early 2027, YouTube Premium subscribers in the US will get Peacock Premium at no additional charge. This collaboration, announced on Sunday by NBCUniversal and YouTube, is Peacock's most significant wholesale distribution deal thus far, broadening its audience to millions of current YouTube Premium users. Currently, Peacock Premium is priced at $10.99 monthly. YouTube Premium has recently raised its prices to $16 per month for individuals and $27 for families.
This bundle allows YouTube Premium subscribers to access Peacock’s entire library, which includes NFL Sunday Night Football, the Olympics, NBA, MLB, Premier League, WNBA, and college sports, as well as popular series like The Office, Saturday Night Live, Law & Order: SVU, Love Island USA, and major Universal films. Subscribers will have the option to upgrade to the ad-free Peacock Premium Plus version. Additionally, Peacock Premium will be available as a standalone option through YouTube Primetime Channels starting later this summer.
The partnership goes beyond just the bundle. NBCUniversal's multi-year distribution contract with YouTube TV, the largest and fastest-growing pay TV service in the US, has been renewed. NBC Sports will produce selected live sports events for YouTube, and some live programming from NBCUniversal will be available on NBC Sports’ YouTube channel. The agreement also extends Universal+ and Hayu to YouTube Premium subscribers in certain international markets, while enhancing the companies’ advertising technology collaboration via FreeWheel. Google has been focusing on rebuilding its products around AI and user engagement, and bundling a significant streaming service with YouTube Premium transforms the subscription from merely an ad-removal service into a comprehensive entertainment offering.
Peacock recently achieved its first quarterly profit, six years post-launch. The YouTube bundle will expedite its next growth phase by prioritizing subscriber scale over revenue per user. Alphabet has raised its capital expenditure forecast to $205 billion this year in light of its investments in AI and content, with the Peacock partnership positioning YouTube Premium as a competitor to Apple One and Amazon Prime’s bundled services. “This partnership brings NBCUniversal’s world-class content to YouTube’s unparalleled scale,” stated Comcast co-CEO Mike Cavanagh. For YouTube, the primary benefit lies in subscriber retention; those who gain access to NFL, Premier League, and The Office, alongside an ad-free YouTube, are considerably less likely to cancel their subscriptions.
