Starting in early 2027, YouTube Premium will incorporate Peacock at no additional charge. This marks Peacock's biggest distribution agreement.
Peacock Premium ($11/month) will be offered at no extra cost with YouTube Premium starting in early 2027. This marks Peacock’s largest wholesale distribution agreement. NBC Sports will handle the production of live events for YouTube.
Beginning in early 2027, YouTube Premium subscribers in the US will have access to Peacock Premium without any additional fee. This agreement, revealed on Sunday by NBCUniversal and YouTube, is the largest wholesale distribution partnership that Peacock has formed, significantly extending its reach to millions of current YouTube Premium members. Presently, Peacock Premium is available for $10.99 per month independently. YouTube Premium has recently increased to $16 per month for individual subscriptions and $27 for family plans.
This package allows YouTube Premium members to enjoy the entirety of Peacock’s offerings, including NFL Sunday Night Football, the Olympics, NBA, MLB, Premier League, WNBA, and collegiate sports, along with popular series such as The Office, Saturday Night Live, Law & Order: SVU, Love Island USA, and major Universal films. Subscribers can also choose to upgrade to the ad-free Peacock Premium Plus tier. Additionally, Peacock Premium will be accessible as a standalone add-on via YouTube Primetime Channels starting later this summer.
The partnership extends beyond just the bundle. NBCUniversal has renewed its multi-year distribution deal with YouTube TV, which is the largest and fastest-growing pay TV provider in the US. NBC Sports will produce specific live sporting events for YouTube, and selected live events from NBCUniversal will be available on NBC Sports’ YouTube channel. Furthermore, this deal will enhance Universal+ and Hayu access for YouTube Premium users in certain international regions and strengthens the collaboration on advertising technology through FreeWheel. With Google focusing on AI and engagement, merging a prominent streaming service with YouTube Premium transforms the subscription from simply an ad-removal tool into a comprehensive entertainment offering.
Peacock has recently achieved its first quarterly profit, six years post-launch. The YouTube partnership speeds up its next growth phase by prioritizing scale over per-subscriber revenue. Alphabet has raised its capital expenditure guidance to $205 billion this year due to investments in AI and content, positioning the Peacock agreement to rival offerings like Apple One and Amazon Prime. Comcast co-CEO Mike Cavanagh stated, “This partnership brings NBCUniversal’s world-class content to YouTube’s unmatched scale.” For YouTube, the main incentive is customer retention; subscribers who receive NFL, Premier League, and The Office along with an ad-free YouTube are less likely to cancel their subscriptions.
