The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra arrives featuring a more enhanced display, a larger battery, and a $100 increase in price.

Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, the latest high-end book-style foldable, expanding its lineup to three models. The Ultra is priced starting at $2,099.99, with pre-orders starting today and general release scheduled for August 7. Customers can choose from Violet Shadow, Graphite, Cream, and a Samsung.com exclusive Green Shadow color.

The Fold 8 Ultra directly succeeds last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, maintaining the taller, narrower design that has characterized Samsung’s Fold series since its inception. In contrast, the new standard Fold 8 features a shorter, wider shape. This distinction not only provides users with an alternative form factor but also allows Samsung to allocate premium specifications to the Ultra model, positioning the regular Fold 8 as a more accessible option.

**A more vivid display in a sleeker form**

The Ultra retains the 8-inch size of the Fold 7, but the resolution has improved to 2,504 x 2,256 pixels from 1,968 x 2,184, which elevates the pixel density from 368ppi to 422ppi. It features a QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 1 to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and Samsung’s Vision Booster technology for enhanced visibility in bright conditions. The peak brightness now reaches 3,000 nits, an increase of 400 nits compared to the Fold 7, and the display is designed to reduce glare with a low-reflection finish.

Despite the enhanced display, Samsung claims the Ultra is the thinnest Fold to date, measuring 4.1mm when unfolded and 8.9mm when folded, slightly thinner than the Fold 7 at 4.2mm unfolded. This reduction in thickness is attributed to a new Flex Titanium display structure, which combines a titanium-alloy film and an upgraded titanium plate, resulting in a lower crease visibility and improved hinge design.

The Ultra features the same Advanced Armor Aluminum frame and IP48 rating as its predecessor, and the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection on the back remains unchanged. The 6.5-inch cover screen is carried over with identical resolution and pixel density but now incorporates Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 for added durability.
