      According to Bloomberg, the company might unveil a new Apple Upgrade program later this month, which would replace the iPhone Upgrade Program that has been in place for ten years.

      Apple is reportedly preparing to allow customers to pay for their next iPhone, iPad, or Mac in installments. The launch is expected to occur on July 28 in the US in collaboration with Klarna, as reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

      Payment conditions may differ based on the device.

      Gurman mentions that Apple may roll out the buy-now, pay-later (BNPL) program for most current models of iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch. However, the specific payment terms could vary depending on the usual price of the product and its anticipated upgrade cycle. Customers might be offered a 24-month payment term for new iPhones and Apple Watch models, reflecting typical upgrade patterns, while plans for iPads and Macs could extend to 36 months.

      The plan may allow buyers some flexibility, such as the option to pay off the remaining balance early, switch to a newer model before their term expires, or keep their device after they’ve finished paying for it. Less expensive models from Apple’s range, including the Apple Watch SE, the base iPad, the iPhone 16, and the MacBook Neo, might not be included.

      The existing iPhone Upgrade Program is said to be discontinued.

      Apple currently provides financing through its iPhone Upgrade Program, which began in 2015 and includes AppleCare+ coverage in the monthly payments. Gurman reports that the company intends to stop accepting new sign-ups for the iPhone Upgrade Program once Apple Upgrade is launched, effectively phasing it out in favor of the Klarna partnership.

      Unlike the iPhone Upgrade Program, Apple Upgrade reportedly will not include AppleCare+ as part of the standard plan, meaning anyone financing a new device may need to purchase coverage separately. Apple has not confirmed these details publicly, and the pricing for the financing plan and any additional AppleCare coverage remains unclear.
