A leak regarding the Pixel 11a has unveiled a flagship processor and an essential modem enhancement.
The more affordable Pixel 11a is expected to feature the same Tensor G6 chip found in Google’s flagship devices. Google is set to unveil the Pixel 11 series within the next month, teasing the phones before the August 12 event, which will showcase the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold.
The Pixel 11a is anticipated to launch later, likely in spring 2027. However, a recent leak from Mystic Leaks has disclosed most of its specifications, suggesting that Google may be addressing a significant drawback seen in the Pixel 10a.
Will the Pixel 11a be equipped with a true flagship chip?
Reports indicate that the Pixel 11a will utilize the Tensor G6 processor, which is expected to be included in the main Pixel 11 lineup. Unlike its predecessor, which came with the older Tensor G4 instead of the Tensor G5 to keep costs low, Google appears to be taking a different approach this time.
The Tensor G6 is expected to be launched alongside the Titan M3 security chip, a PowerVR C-Series GPU, and MediaTek’s M90 modem. The modem change is notable since the Pixel 11 series is likely to shift away from Samsung’s Exynos hardware.
Pixel users have voiced concerns about weak signal reception, dropped calls, and significant battery drainage for years. Although switching modems does not guarantee the resolution of these issues, it provides Google with an opportunity to tackle a long-standing problem within the Pixel lineup.
What other changes are anticipated?
Sources suggest that the Pixel 11a will maintain a 6.3-inch display with a resolution of 1,080 by 2,424 pixels and a variable refresh rate ranging from 60Hz to 120Hz. Brightness might reach 2,250 nits for HDR and peak at 3,350 nits, significantly enhancing outdoor visibility.
Reports indicate that Google will continue to include 8GB of RAM, while the minimum battery capacity might slightly decrease from 5,000mAh to 4,870mAh. The leak also points to a new front-facing camera sensor and four available colors named Obsidian, Olive, Frost, and Fog.
While these details have not been made official yet, the combination of the Tensor G6 and the MediaTek modem could represent a substantial improvement over its predecessor.
