The Summer Sale on the PlayStation Store kicks off on July 15, offering discounts of up to 75% on hundreds of games.
Clair Obscur Expedition 33, God of War Ragnarök, and Space Marine 2 have been confirmed for PlayStation's Summer Sale.
Sony PlayStation has revealed that the Summer Sale on the PlayStation Store will kick off on July 15, offering discounts of up to 75% on a wide selection of PS5, PS4, and PS VR2 titles. The sale will also encompass add-ons, expansion packs, and special editions.
While the complete price list will be available when the sale commences, Sony has already verified numerous significant games for the event. The initial roster features recent releases, PlayStation exclusives, and some older titles that might be worth revisiting at a discounted rate.
Highlighted among PlayStation's major titles are Astro Bot, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Battlefield 6, Clair Obscur Expedition 33, Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring Nightreign, Final Fantasy XVI, God of War Ragnarök, Gran Turismo 7, and Hollow Knight Silksong.
Other noteworthy games include Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Mafia: The Old Country, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Digital Deluxe Edition, Monster Hunter Wilds, Red Dead Redemption 2, Stellar Blade, Street Fighter 6, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.
Sony plans to refresh the sale on July 27, substituting some deals with new discounts. The event will conclude on August 12 at 11:59 p.m. PDT, BST, and JST, although some offers may end sooner. It’s advisable for players to check the specific store listings before making any purchases.
The significance of digital sales is set to increase
Sony's intention to discontinue the release of new PlayStation games on physical discs starting January 2028 adds more weight to promotions like this one. Currently, players can compare prices on the PlayStation Store with discounts from Amazon, GameStop, and other retail outlets. Purchasing used discs is another way to save money, especially after a game has been available for a while.
However, once new discs are no longer available, much of that choice will vanish. Sony will have more influence over where games are sold, the frequency of discounts, and the duration of those discounts. Steam has demonstrated that a digital-only market can be successful if sales are regular and the pricing is appealing. It remains to be seen whether PlayStation will provide similar value in the future.
