The Honor Wild Robot Phone might boast top-tier specifications to support its novelty.
The Honor Robot Phone might feature not one, but two 200MP cameras
Since its initial public unveiling, Honor's Robot Phone has captured attention with its bold experimental design. It is a smartphone that includes a camera resembling a gimbal, which extends from the back and tracks subjects.
However, newly leaked specifications suggest that it may not be solely defined by this unique feature. Honor could be developing an genuinely groundbreaking flagship centered around this camera. As per well-known tipster Digital Chat Station, the Robot Phone may utilize Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, a flat 1.5K display ranging from 6.3 to 6.4 inches, and a battery with approximately 6,000mAh capacity. Honor has yet to verify these details, so they should be considered speculative.
Incorporating two 200MP cameras
Honor
Honor has confirmed that the robot arm of the phone is equipped with a 200MP sensor positioned within what is described as the smallest 4DoF gimbal system in the industry. This mechanism offers three-axis stabilization, AI-driven subject tracking, 90-degree and 180-degree rotational shots, and autonomous movement capabilities during video calls or AI engagements.
The latest leak adds to this with a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a second 200MP sensor accompanied by a periscope telephoto lens. This enhancement provides the Robot Phone with significantly broader photographic capabilities than the main camera would imply on its own. Digital Chat Station reportedly anticipates that the overall camera performance will align with Honor’s forthcoming Magic 9 flagship series. Furthermore, the company has announced a technical collaboration with professional cinema-camera manufacturer ARRI, which integrates elements of ARRI’s imaging expertise into the Robot Phone.

A camera that can physically track its subject could offer much more than just visual spectacle. Creators could film themselves while maintaining proper framing on video calls, achieve smoother walking shots, and create rotational sequences that presently necessitate an external gimbal.
It remains uncertain whether Honor will release this smartphone outside of China and how durable this gimbal-like mechanism is. Current leaks indicate a potential launch in China around August.
