The public beta of iOS 27 has finally arrived, and you can access it without a developer account.
Greg Joswiak has made it official. Just a few minutes ago, Apple’s marketing lead confirmed that public betas for iOS 27, macOS 27, iPadOS 27, and other Apple devices are now available.
If you've been waiting all month to try the public beta while developers rave about Siri AI, your wait is over.
So, what changes with the public beta?
Apple has been issuing developer betas for iOS 27 since WWDC on June 8, with new builds arriving approximately every two weeks. The third beta was released on July 6, and the public beta has come just in time.
For those who are out of the loop, Apple typically launches the public beta about five to seven days after the third developer build, which aligns perfectly with today’s release. The key difference between the two is mainly about refinement.
Public betas are now live! 🚀 They are more responsive, reliable, and enjoyable to use. Experience the all-new Siri AI, enhance your photos with the Clean Up and Extend tools, and much more. pic.twitter.com/SQLfILRUKb— Greg Joswiak (@gregjoz) July 13, 2026
Developer betas are often in a more basic stage and usually come with significant bugs, glitches, and crashes, which I've encountered on my iPhone 17 over the past few weeks. Thus, they aren't suitable for everyone, especially regular users.
In contrast, public betas are generally more polished and refined. Many of the bugs reported during initial testing have been resolved, making it safer to install and try out upcoming features, even for standard users.
The purpose of a public beta is not just to show off early features but also to provide iOS 27 to a much larger testing group, aiding in the creation of a stable final version set for release in September.

What can you actually experience in the public beta of iOS 27?
I would still advise against installing the public beta on your primary iPhone, especially if you use it for work. However, it’s fine to use it on secondary iPhones or devices (like iPads or Apple Watches).
Regarding what’s new in the public beta, we’ve already discussed a variety of features and hands-on experiences. For example, Siri AI acts as a conversational assistant with on-screen awareness and cross-app actions, but it requires an iPhone 15 Pro or newer to function.
Photos introduces features like Clean Up, Extend, and Spatial Reframing for correcting crooked or cluttered images, which also necessitate an A17 Pro chip.

Additionally, there’s a Liquid Glass transparency slider, receipt-splitting functionality in Wallet, and a "Notify Me" tool in Safari for page monitoring.
The stable version is set to launch this September alongside the anticipated iPhone 18 Pro, which is generally when millions of iPhone users upgrade.
