Sber has launched a service for finding gas stations with available fuel.

Sber has introduced a service for finding gas stations where fuel is likely available. The solution uses anonymized payment data, covers about 23,000 gas stations across Russia, and helps quickly select the appropriate gas station.

Sber has presented a new service for motorists designed to find gas stations where fuel can likely be purchased. The solution is based on the analysis of the largest array of anonymized payment data in Russia. Currently, the service covers about 23,000 gas stations across the country, including stations in major cities, along federal highways, as well as in small settlements.

The operation of the service is based on the use of anonymized information about purchases made by more than 100 million Sber clients. Thanks to the extensive payment infrastructure, the bank receives millions of signals related to fuel payments at gas stations in various regions every day. This allows for the formation of a comprehensive and regularly updated picture of gas station operations, regardless of their location and affiliation with any particular network, the developers claim.

When processing information, the algorithms consider only those transactions that are highly likely related to fuel purchases. To do this, a range of parameters is analyzed, including the payment amount, the type of point of sale, and other characteristics of the transaction. This approach allows for the separation of fuel payments from purchases made at the gas station, such as coffee, store items, or other ancillary services.

Based on the results of the analysis, each gas station is assigned a current status. Additionally, the time of the last recorded fuel purchase is displayed for each gas station. This information allows users to understand how fresh the data for a specific station is. With the service, users can open a map, view nearby gas stations where fuel purchases have recently been registered, select an appropriate station, and plot a route to it.

The service is available in a web version, as well as to users of the "SberBank Online" app, where it is located in the "For Life" section. The mapping platform used is 2GIS. The data is updated automatically as new anonymized information about payment transactions comes in.

In the future, the functionality of the service is planned to be expanded. Users will have access to information about the expected congestion of gas stations, as well as the availability of specific types of fuel.
