Three Siri AI features that have truly enhanced my daily routine.

      iOS 27 has finally delivered the significantly enhanced Siri experience that Apple promised three years ago. The new Siri, referred to as Siri AI, now genuinely feels beneficial. I can use it to create shortcuts, receive answers tailored to my personal context, execute actions within apps, and much more. Among all the Siri AI capabilities, three straightforward ones have truly transformed my daily experience. Let’s discuss them.

      Search functionality has improved significantly

      Spotlight search has long been one of my favorite features on iOS. I can easily swipe down anywhere on the screen to activate Spotlight, allowing me to find apps, perform calculations, and browse the web.

      With Siri AI in iOS 27, Spotlight search seems to have gained enhanced abilities. It can still perform all its previous functions but now does so much quicker and more efficiently. Additionally, new features have been added, making it even more powerful.

      For instance, when I pose questions that necessitate a web search, it no longer redirects me to Safari filled with links. More often than not, it finds the information I need and provides me with a concise answer on the spot.

      It can now also search within apps. I can request it to locate photos, specific messages in my messaging app, or even emails. The email search is particularly satisfying. Apple Mail used to struggle with finding emails, but with the new Siri AI, that issue is resolved, and it can usually locate the emails I'm seeking instantly.

      The enhancement in search saves me so much time that I can hardly believe I managed without it on my iPhone for the past few years. It’s one of those background features that dramatically improves everyday life.

      Creating reminders and calendar events now feels intuitive

      For years, I've relied on Fantastical 2 (and more recently Dot Calendar) to add calendar events on my Mac and iPhone because these apps support natural language processing, allowing me to simply type events as I would normally speak.

      For example, if I type "Dinner with Jenny at 10PM tomorrow," it creates the event at the correct date and time. Apple Calendar and Reminders have lacked this essential feature for years, but that has changed.

      With the latest Siri AI update, these apps now support natural language processing, enabling me to create reminders and events without having to fill in various data fields.

      I can just tell Siri AI to create an event in plain English or enter it directly into Reminders or Calendar. This makes the process of setting reminders and events much simpler, and the best part is that there’s no need to purchase an app for this anymore.

      Your camera also has a new AI feature

      One of my favorite features of Siri AI is its integration directly into the Camera app. Whatever your camera observes, Siri AI can also comprehend, unlocking numerous functionalities.

      For example, you can open the camera in Siri AI mode, point it at an item, and ask it to search for it on the web. It can help translate menus and road signs, find nutritional information for the food you’re about to eat, and more.

      The possibilities are endless here. One of my personal favorites is pointing it at a plant to identify its name. If you haven’t tried this feature yet, I highly recommend giving it a go.

      While these three features might not be the most dazzling updates in iOS 27, they are the ones I use daily. Siri AI finally acts like a real assistant instead of a novelty, and honestly, it’s about time. If you’ve been neglecting Siri over the past few years, now might be the perfect moment to take another look.
