The Razr Fold now interacts more smoothly with iPhones thanks to AirDrop.
I had more reasons than anticipated to keep the Motorola Razr Fold with me. During my review of the device, the company's first foldable impressed me with its level of refinement. A functional outer display, excellent cameras, long battery life, and a stunning folding screen all made me consider using it as my main phone.
Now, Motorola has provided one more incentive, further enhancing my interest. The Motorola Razr Fold now features AirDrop-style sharing via Android's Quick Share, becoming the first Motorola phone to offer this capability. This allows Razr Fold users to share files directly with Apple devices like iPhones, iPads, and Macs without relying on cloud links, messaging applications, USB cables, or the usual cross-platform complications.

Simplifying interactions across different ecosystems
Not every Apple feature is essential for Android users. However, AirDrop has always been one of those incredibly useful features. It is quick, straightforward, local, and familiar to Apple device owners. The downside has been that Android users have had to find workarounds. They could upload files to Google Drive, send them via WhatsApp, compress them over messaging apps, email them as if it were 2014, or connect via a USB cable and feel frustrated.
Quick Share with AirDrop support resolves this issue. On compatible Android devices, local file sharing occurs through Quick Share, while Apple devices receive the files via AirDrop. This functionality was first reported by Android Authority, which confirmed its operation on the Razr Fold with a MacBook.

The significance of this feature for the Razr Fold
The Razr Fold is not a budget phone. As Motorola's most significant attempt at a traditional book-style foldable, it requires more than just appealing hardware to justify its use as a daily driver—and this feature genuinely aids in that. A foldable device is often utilized as a mini-tablet for tasks like editing, reviewing photos, reading documents, multitasking, and managing work-related files. Whether transferring images from the phone to a MacBook, sending documents to an iPad, or sharing media with an iPhone user nearby, AirDrop support makes the Razr Fold feel much more integrated with the surrounding Apple devices.
I hope this feature will also be available on other recent Motorola models. Other Android brands have already introduced supported devices, including Google, Samsung, OnePlus, Oppo, Honor, Vivo, and Xiaomi. I already had a greater appreciation for the Razr Fold than I expected, and now my reasons for considering it as my daily driver have only strengthened.
