One of the most beneficial features of the Galaxy S26 Ultra may soon be available across the entire Galaxy S27 series. Recent leaks suggest Samsung is planning to incorporate its Privacy Display technology into all models of the Galaxy S27 lineup.
Rumors indicate that Samsung is developing four models in the Galaxy S27 series: the standard Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, the new Galaxy S27 Pro, and the Galaxy S27 Ultra. According to The Elec, all four models will include Samsung Display’s Flex Magic Pixel technology as a standard feature.
Given how minimal the updates felt during my experience with the Galaxy S26, this could make the upcoming S series phones significantly more appealing.
The Ultra feature is going mainstream
Flex Magic Pixel is Samsung’s hardware-based privacy display technology. In standard mode, the display operates like a conventional smartphone screen with wide viewing angles. However, when privacy mode is activated, the display narrows side visibility, allowing only the person directly in front to read the screen easily while making it difficult for those viewing from the sides.
This offers a better alternative to typical privacy screen protectors that can often make displays dimmer, grainier, or less user-friendly. Samsung’s method is integrated into the OLED panel itself.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra was the first device from Samsung to feature this technology, and if the leak holds true, the Galaxy S27 series would provide an option for those who do not wish to purchase the largest and most expensive model solely for improved screen privacy.
How this could truly transform the Galaxy S lineup
Samsung has historically utilized the Ultra model as the initial platform for its best hardware. While this strategy is effective for upselling, it often leaves standard Galaxy S buyers feeling deprived when genuinely useful features remain exclusive. The Privacy Display stands apart from niche camera modes or stylus features. It enhances everyday usage and not only serves as a practical addition but also differentiates Samsung devices from other flagship smartphones.
Samsung has yet to confirm the Galaxy S27 series or the rollout of the privacy display technology, so this news should be regarded as preliminary. The Elec also points out that there are still technical challenges concerning resolution, brightness, and power consumption for the privacy display technology. Thus, it's wise to approach this information with some skepticism.
