Red Magic has introduced a new OLED gaming tablet that showcases liquid cooling technology.
Red Magic has officially unveiled its new compact gaming tablet in the Chinese market after several teasers. Named the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro, this device embodies the core principles that make Red Magic phones unique: premium gaming specs, robust cooling solutions, and a design that boldly showcases its gaming identity.
This tablet will not be confined to the Chinese market. Red Magic has announced that the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro will be available globally as the Red Magic Astra 2 Gaming Tablet, with international pricing and launch details to be disclosed on July 17.
A small tablet with formidable gaming specifications
The Gaming Tablet 5 Pro features a 9.06-inch OLED display, making it more compact than most mainstream tablets and allowing for a more comfortable grip during lengthy gaming sessions. The display remains a standout feature, boasting a 2.4K resolution, a refresh rate of 185Hz, and a peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits.
As a gaming-centric device, touch response is crucial, which is why it employs a Synaptics S3930 touch solution. The company claims this setup allows for a 300Hz multi-touch sampling rate, up to 2,000Hz instantaneous touch response, and 1ms input latency. Additionally, a wet-touch algorithm is implemented to ensure controls remain responsive even when fingers are sweaty. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, combined with Red Magic’s RedCore R4 gaming chip and Energy Cube 3.0 optimization system.
Cooling is the key highlight
The active liquid cooling system, which has been adapted from its flagship gaming smartphones, is a prominent feature of the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro. This cooling system is visible through the transparent rear panel and is complemented by 11 RGB LEDs for customizable lighting effects.
The tablet also includes an 8,300mAh battery, 80W charging for the Chinese variant, reverse charging capability, and two USB-C ports. One of these ports is strategically placed for horizontal gaming to minimize potential interference from the charging cable.
In China, the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro starts at 5,299 yuan, roughly translating to $780, and is available in Black and Silver. Global consumers will receive further details about the Astra 2 version in July.
