Kobo responds to Kindle's Goodreads feature by introducing automatic syncing with StoryGraph.
Your Kobo and StoryGraph are now officially connected.
Kobo readers can now cross one item off their reading to-do list. Following a month of teasing, Rakuten Kobo has finally rolled out the StoryGraph support feature for its users. This means your reading progress on Kobo can now be transferred to StoryGraph automatically.
The company initially announced this feature in a press release last May. Now that it's active, Kobo eReaders and apps can directly synchronize with your StoryGraph account. Any book you open will show up on your StoryGraph “Currently Reading” shelf, your progress will remain consistent across both platforms, and completing a book on your Kobo will automatically mark it as “Read” on StoryGraph.
What advantages does the integration bring you?
In terms of book tracking, StoryGraph is my personal favorite. It excels at tracking books, and I typically find its recommendations superior to those of Goodreads. My only problem with the app was that I had to manually input my books, but now that Kobo syncs automatically, that issue is resolved.
The great part is that it accommodates both eBooks and audiobooks. So whether you’re nestled up with your Kobo device or listening while pursuing your reading goals, the synchronization has you covered.
Once everything is set up, StoryGraph utilizes this activity to enhance your reading statistics, recommendations, challenges, streaks, and book club features.
How can you set it up?
Getting started is straightforward. Log in to your Kobo account on Kobo.com, go to Account Settings, select Integrations, then choose StoryGraph and click Connect. That's all there is to it. Your progress will begin syncing automatically.
Kindle has discreetly benefitted from Goodreads integration for years as one of its subtle advantages, even if it's not appealing to everyone. Now, Kobo users can finally enjoy a similar feature, albeit on a different platform.
StoryGraph has gradually gained traction as an alternative to Goodreads for book lovers, and the automatic Kobo syncing allows you to access all those valuable insights without needing to remember to update another app each time you read a page.
