Apple is preparing to launch six new iPhones in 2027, featuring significant upgrades.
The iPhone lineup for 2027 appears to be impressive.
Apple's schedule for launching new iPhones may become significantly busier in 2027. A recent leak suggests that the tech giant has six different iPhone models planned throughout the year. If this information holds true, we could be witnessing the most extensive iPhone release strategy in several years.
According to the reliable source, Digital Chat Station, the initial lineup for early 2027 may include the iPhone Air 2, iPhone 18, and iPhone 18e. The fall lineup is anticipated to introduce next-gen Pro models alongside a second foldable iPhone, which is reportedly dubbed the iPhone Ultra 2.
The early models for 2027 appear to present a variety of features. The iPhone Air 2 is rumored to feature a 6.55-inch 1.5K 120Hz LTPO OLED display, while the standard iPhone 18 could come equipped with a 6.3-inch 1.5K 120Hz LTPO OLED screen. The iPhone 17 made significant improvements last year by upgrading its display to a higher refresh rate, but the iPhone 18e might lack this enhancement.
The most budget-friendly model is said to have a smaller 6.12-inch LTPO OLED display with a maximum refresh rate of 60Hz, meaning ProMotion technology may not be included. Given that budget Android smartphones are also providing smoother screens, this aspect might be disappointing in 2027. If the report is accurate, the 2026 iPhone lineup will focus solely on premium models, with entry-level devices expected to debut later.
The second half of 2027 is set to expand Apple's plans further. The leak indicates that the iPhone 19 Pro series has successfully passed mold testing, and the second foldable iPhone Ultra is also undergoing extensive mold testing for its foldable screen.
There's speculation that a significant redesign for the Pro models is in the works for the 20th anniversary of the iPhone, and the introduction of a second foldable iPhone would enhance the year's significance.
In other news, the iPhone 18 Pro has been leaked through a factory drop test, which is unlikely to please Apple. Typically, iPhone leaks involve cases or early designs, but this particular leak reveals the device as it undergoes testing. A post from leaker Ice Universe shows the iPhone 18 Pro in a drop test scenario, highlighting its durability during a basic fall, although its thickness remains surprising, and its weight is still unknown.
Additionally, with Samsung's annual Unpacked event just around the corner, the company is preparing to unveil its new foldable models in July. Anticipated devices include the Galaxy Z Fold 8, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide—which aims to compete directly with the iPhone Fold—and the Galaxy Z Flip 8. Recent leaked cases from Android Headlines provide a clearer glimpse of these upcoming phones.
Finally, I experimented with a hidden video feature in iOS 27, which significantly reduced my frustration. It boasts better quality, smaller file sizes, and no status bar, making it superior to screenshots in every way. If you've ever opted to record video on vacation to capture moments instead of taking pictures, only to later wish you could take screenshots, you’ll understand the hassle. The process of finding the right frame in the video, pausing, and screenshotting can be tedious.
