      The forthcoming MacBook Pro may feature OLED technology and touch support but will not include the M6 Pro silicon.

      According to reports from Bloomberg, Apple is anticipated to unveil an updated MacBook Pro later this year, although it will not be equipped with a next-generation processor. Instead, the highly awaited device will utilize Pro and Max versions of the existing M5 silicon.

      There was considerable speculation that the redesigned MacBook, featuring an OLED display and touchscreen capability, would also introduce the M6 series processors. However, it seems that Apple has significantly altered its silicon strategy.

      The forthcoming M6 lineup from Apple may be surprisingly limited.

      The outlet recently disclosed that Apple will only release the upcoming M6 processor in a baseline model, meaning there will be no M6 Pro, M6 Max, or M6 Ultra options available. Rather, Apple is reverting to a multi-processor approach when it rolls out the M7 silicon next year.

      The OLED upgrade could be substantial.

      Apple's updated MacBook Pro is expected to be available in 14-inch and 16-inch versions. While details on cosmetic changes remain scarce, the display is expected to be a major highlight. After years of using mini-LED panels, Apple will finally transition to OLED panels, resulting in significant improvements in color contrast, brightness, and viewing angles.

      Another significant alteration is that the bucket-shaped notch at the top of the screen will be eliminated. The new MacBook Pro will feature a punch-hole design inspired by the pill-shaped cutout on the iPhone. According to the report, “The Dynamic Island on the Mac will be based around a hole-punch-sized cutout for the camera, which is smaller than the current pill-shaped notch on iPhones.”

      Bloomberg also reported that Apple is already preparing successors that will be outfitted with an M7-series processor. Additionally, the company is considering an OLED display option for the MacBook Air in the future.
