Prime Video has delivered great news for Invincible enthusiasts, even before Season 5 has debuted. Creator Robert Kirkman shared at the Annecy Festival that the animated superhero show will be returning for Season 6, along with the announcement that Jack Quaid from The Boys will be joining the cast.
Why did Prime Video renew Invincible for Season 6 before Season 5 aired?
Kirkman attributed the early renewal to the show's devoted fanbase and talented creative team, specifically mentioning long-time supervising directors Shaun O’Neill and Dan Duncan, who are now taking on executive producer roles. Season 4 concluded earlier this year with a perfect 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and Prime Video revealed it was the most-watched season of the series to date.
Kirkman has indicated in the past that a complete adaptation of his comic book series would necessitate seven to nine seasons, so this early renewal brings Invincible closer to fully telling its narrative. With Season 6, Invincible will also become the longest-running animated series on the platform, matching Netflix’s BoJack Horseman.

Jack Quaid transitions from one Prime Video success to another
Quaid, recognized for his role as Hughie Campbell in The Boys, will provide the voice for Chris, also known as Gravitator, in the upcoming fifth season of Invincible. In the comics, Gravitator is a brilliant engineer who creates an anti-gravity suit, initially using it for theft, but later changes his ways after encountering Invincible and decides to join the Global Defense Agency.
A preview clip presented at Annecy showed Gravitator executing a heist before being apprehended, indicating the show remains faithful to that backstory. Quaid is joining other actors like Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who have moved between The Boys and Invincible.
Invincible Season 5 is anticipated to release sometime between February and April 2027, with Season 6 following once Kirkman and his team are ready to advance Mark Grayson’s journey.
