Completing forms on mobile devices has become much simpler with Google Wallet.
Chrome's recent Autofill enhancement can now retrieve travel documents, vehicle information, and other details directly from Google Wallet.
Typing in passport numbers, vehicle registration details, and loyalty card info on a small smartphone screen isn’t enjoyable for anyone. Google seems to acknowledge this. The company has revealed that Chrome on Android and iOS will receive a significant Autofill update, enabling direct access to information from Google Wallet, thereby simplifying the process of filling out complex forms on mobile devices.
Chrome Autofill is becoming more intelligent.
According to Google, the upgraded Autofill feature can now access a broader array of information stored in Google Wallet, which includes travel-related data, loyalty cards, vehicle details, and other credentials that users typically have to input manually. This enhancement aims to assist with tasks such as checking in for flights, renting cars, making parking reservations, and various online sign-ups.
Excited to launch advanced autofill on mobile using information from Google Wallet… it’s a huge time saver. This update builds upon Chrome’s Enhanced Autofill system that Google introduced in the past year. Previously, Chrome gained the ability to store information like passport numbers, driver’s licenses, vehicle identification numbers (VINs), and license plate details. With this latest upgrade, that information becomes more accessible on mobile thanks to deeper integration with Google Wallet.
Google is also making this feature available for both Android and iPhone users, ensuring a consistent Autofill experience across platforms. Rather than sifting through emails, screenshots, or different apps, users can simply choose the relevant Wallet entry when filling out a supported form.
Honestly, this appears to be more beneficial than many AI features.
Interestingly, while tech companies frequently emphasize their AI assistants, often the most significant enhancements are the more mundane ones. Anyone who has ever rushed to find a passport number while checking in for a flight or searched for a loyalty card ID during an online purchase knows how frustrating these situations can be.

This move also further reinforces Google Wallet's function as more than just a repository for payment cards. Over the past year, Google has gradually expanded Wallet into a central hub for IDs, tickets, loyalty programs, travel information, and vehicle credentials. If executed effectively, Advanced Autofill could evolve into one of those features that users become indifferent to because it simply works. In the realm of mobile software, that is often the highest praise a feature can receive.
