GTA VI has finally been given a price and will have a no-disc policy for its physical edition.

Rockstar Games has officially announced the price of its eagerly awaited game, Grand Theft Auto VI, also known as GTA 6. The standard edition will retail for $79.99 in the US, while the Ultimate Edition will set you back $99.99. Pre-orders for the game are available starting today, June 26th, at midnight, allowing customers to reserve copies for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X.

The price is certainly on the higher end, but it's still less than the $100+ speculations that were circulating just weeks prior. In terms of PC and console gaming, an $80 starting price is still quite steep. So far, only Nintendo has managed to sell games at a similar price point and has faced considerable backlash for it.

      What does the package include?

“Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI commence at midnight local time on June 25, featuring the Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition, which enhances the most immersive GTA experience to date with an exclusive selection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action woven throughout Jason and Lucia’s narrative,” the studio shared in its announcement.

The studio emphasizes that Grand Theft Auto 6 will be a single-player experience when it launches on Sony and Xbox consoles on November 19. Those who pre-order the game will receive a Vintage Vice City bonus. If you reserve a digital version of the game before November 19, you’ll have the option to pre-load it on November 12, and pre-order customers will also enjoy a month of free GTA+ subscription.

Purchasing the Ultimate Edition provides several additional perks, such as exclusive sports cars with retro-futuristic designs, uniquely engraved weapons with high-performance scopes, personalized variants of these firearms, Vice City-themed outfits and tattoos, a dedicated safe house vehicle, exclusive mods, salon benefits for makeup and styling, custom streetwear, and a special garage, among other items.

      The no-disc issue

Conversely, the physical version of the game will be available starting November 12, but it will only include a download code inside the packaging. This decision to release the physical edition without a traditional disc has already sparked significant discussion on social media. Many eager fans are questioning the reasoning behind this choice, wondering why a studio with ample financial resources isn't providing physical disc versions of the game.

Some voices on social media argue that by omitting a physical disc, Rockstar Games is reducing the risk of leaks and limiting the potential for reselling. However, possessing a physical copy of a game holds considerable collector's value, especially for a title that has such a significant cultural influence.
