The upcoming phone from HMD has been leaked, and I’m weary of repeatedly encountering the same design that mimics the iPhone.
The specifications are satisfactory. The design brief seems to have been "look at Apple's work and get inventive."
Every few months, a new budget Android smartphone emerges with a design that’s either strongly influenced by the latest iPhone or a direct imitation.
Leaked images of the HMD Luma 2, shared by tipster @smashx_60 on X, appear to blur the distinction between the two.
So what are we seeing here?
According to the renders, the claimed smartphone features a rectangular camera plateau at the top of the rear panel, akin to that of the iPhone 17 Pro. However, instead of three cameras, HMD has included just two.
The images also indicate a two-tone finish, with the bottom section of the back appearing slightly different than the top. This aesthetic was first introduced by Apple's latest Pro iPhones, which have a glass lower section allowing for wireless charging and an aluminum upper camera bar.
Even the third color option, Midnight Lake, closely resembles the iPhone 17 Pro’s Deep Blue. This isn't HMD's first instance of such design choices; the current HMD Luma already reflects the iPhone 16 Pro style, with a rear camera module positioned at the top-left of the back panel.
Per @smashx_60’s post, the Luma 2 is said to include a 6.75-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, powered by the Unisoc T7280 chip along with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM (expandable up to 8GB virtually) and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage (expandable up to 1TB with a microSD card).
The device is expected to come with Android 16 pre-installed. It might feature a 50MP main camera along with a secondary lens and an 8MP front-facing camera. The phone is backed by a 6,000 mAh battery that supports 18W wired charging.
Additional features may include a 3.5mm audio jack, OZO Audio, and IP54 rating.

Nothing’s latest teaser implies that their budget lineup isn’t finished, but is merely undergoing rebranding.
Nothing has canceled plans for a new CMF phone due to rising costs, but a new teaser hints at a possible replacement under its main brand. A recent clip shared on X does not explicitly name the upcoming device, but a detail toward the end suggests it may be called the Nothing Phone 4b. A familiar design points to the lineup it belongs to.
We believe the Vivo X300 Ultra may currently be the best Android smartphone available.
Quick Take
The Vivo X300 Ultra is one of those exceptional flagship smartphones that feels purposefully created rather than designed simply to meet specification criteria. After spending several weeks with the device, my main observation is that Vivo has enhanced nearly every element of an already impressive formula.
I swapped expensive Apple accessories for Xiaomi products, and the experience exceeded my expectations.
These Xiaomi accessories made my iPhone setup more affordable without sacrificing quality.
Xiaomi has never been shy about its sources of inspiration. Occasionally, the company produces items that resemble Apple’s offerings, changes the branding, and still manages to create a quite compelling product. That’s why during my recent visit to Taiwan for Computex 2026, I ended up purchasing some familiar products, specifically the Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 15W and the Redmi Buds 8 Pro.
At first glance, both fit neatly into a very recognizable Apple-like category. The power bank offers a more economical alternative to Apple’s iPhone Air MagSafe Battery. The Redmi Buds 8 Pro aim to provide some features similar to the AirPods Pro without the AirPods Pro price tag. However, these aren’t imitations or copies. They are well-crafted gadgets that deliver better value.
