Samsung has officially announced the Exynos 2700, which appears to be targeted for the Galaxy S27.

Samsung has officially announced the development of the Exynos 2700 chipset, marking the first direct confirmation that the company's upcoming flagship processor is in progress.

Typically, Samsung releases its Galaxy S flagship phones with two different chip options—some regions receive Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon processor, while others get Samsung’s own Exynos chip. However, there have been exceptions in recent years; both the Galaxy S23 series in 2023 and the Galaxy S25 series in 2025 were launched solely with Snapdragon processors, leading to speculation about whether the Galaxy S27 would follow suit.

This now appears unlikely. During a recent management briefing, Samsung System LSI President Park Yong-In confirmed that the Exynos 2700 is currently under development. According to Hankyung, Park stated that the development is on track and that the chip is being designed for use in "top-tier smartphones." Although Samsung hasn't specified any devices, the Galaxy S27 series is widely anticipated to be the first lineup to feature the new processor.

Efficiency enhancements are anticipated based on leaks

Information regarding the Exynos 2700 has been emerging since 2024. An early leak suggested that Samsung is aiming for a 12% performance boost compared to the previous model. More notably, the company reportedly intends to cut power consumption by 25% while also reducing the chip's size by 8%.

Previous reports indicate that the Exynos 2700 will be manufactured using Samsung Foundry’s second-generation 2nm process, referred to as SF2P. Additionally, Samsung is purportedly developing new thermal management technologies to enhance efficiency and sustain performance during demanding tasks.

      Initial benchmark results are intriguing

In April, a Geekbench listing believed to be from an Exynos 2700 engineering sample surfaced online. This chip achieved benchmark scores comparable to the existing Exynos 2600, notably while operating at clock speeds below 3GHz.

This may suggest that Samsung is prioritizing efficiency improvements over merely striving for higher benchmark scores. There have also been suggestions that the South Korean company could implement a new Heat Path Block (HPB) design for the Exynos 2700, which could enhance cooling. Qualcomm’s forthcoming Snapdragon flagship chip, likely named the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, is anticipated to maintain higher peak performance, but Samsung might focus on delivering better battery life and more stable performance over extended use periods.

Security researchers find a new BootROM exploit affecting iPhones with A12 and A13 chips

Despite being regarded as some of the most secure smartphones for everyday users, Apple devices are still vulnerable to serious security issues, as evidenced by recent threats such as Coruna and DarkSword. Now, security researchers at Paradigm Shift have unveiled a new exploit called usbliter8, which impacts certain older iPhones and targets a critical part of Apple’s startup sequence known as the BootROM. The BootROM is the foundational startup code executed before iOS loads, initiating the boot process and verifying which components should run next. Because this code is embedded in the chip itself, it is far more challenging to rectify compared to a regular iOS bug. While Apple can usually address software vulnerabilities through updates, rewriting the BootROM code on already shipped devices is impossible.

Caviar’s iPhone case is three times the price of the phone and features a real T-Rex tooth fragment

Caviar has created numerous extravagantly priced custom phones in the past, but its latest iPhone accessory could be an extraordinary fusion (literally). The company's new Magnetic Custom Relict is a magnetic case designed for the iPhone 17 Pro Max, retailing for $4,490. Yes, the price may seem outrageous until you take into account the unique feature of the case, which incorporates a piece of a Tyrannosaurus fossil embedded in the tip of its signature checkmark design.

Nothing just scrapped its next affordable phone, and the issue is more significant than you think

Nothing has canceled its upcoming CMF Phone, and the cause is unrelated to the phone itself. Co-founder Akis Evangelidis confirmed on X that CMF will not introduce a new phone this year, citing the ongoing memory crisis, which seems to be worsening daily.
