Google Vids makes AI avatars available for free, adds longer video generation and multilingual voiceovers

If you've wanted to transform presentations into videos without needing to record yourself, Google has great news. Starting today, anyone with a personal Google account in the US can access AI avatars in Vids for free, with more regions set to receive this feature later this summer. Free users can create 10 video generations monthly, which can be divided between avatar creations and Veo-powered clips.

Your presentations now come with an AI presenter for no cost.

You can choose a standard avatar from Google's curated collection or create a custom one using Nano Banana 2. Furthermore, scripts and voiceovers now accommodate 24 languages, allowing the same avatar to present your product in English one day and in Arabic or Vietnamese the next.

If you've already prepared decks in Google Slides, Vids can convert that presentation into a storyboard and generate a script for an avatar to present onscreen, meaning you won't have to repeat the same pitch across different time zones.

Prefer not to have a face on screen? Paid users on the AI Pro, Ultra, and Business or Enterprise plans can opt for an AI voiceover instead, which now supports eight languages, including Japanese, Korean, Spanish, and French.

Paid Veo users can also bypass the previous eight-second clip restriction with the extended Veo 3.1 limits in Vids, allowing for longer storytelling without losing scene consistency halfway through.

What’s next for your avatars in Google Vids?

Later this summer, an Emotion Steering feature will be launched for both free and paid users. This will enable you to modify how an avatar or AI voiceover conveys a message, aligning the tone more closely with your intention.

The Emotion Steering feature builds on Direct Avatars, which already allows you to place an avatar into a scene and have it walk, talk, and interact with objects simply by typing a prompt.

With free avatars, multilingual voiceovers, emotional controls, and longer AI-generated videos, Google Vids provides the tools to create professional content without the time and expense associated with traditional video production.
