Intel's speculated Serpent Lake SoCs featuring Nvidia graphics could debut in 2028.
Intel and Nvidia may collaborate on a groundbreaking processor.
Intel's anticipated Serpent Lake processors might have an estimated launch timeframe. According to hardware leaker FX57, Intel aims for a debut in the first quarter of 2028 for processors that incorporate Nvidia graphics technology. If the timeline holds, these chips could be unveiled at CES 2028.
While the leak doesn't explicitly mention Serpent Lake, earlier roadmap leaks have connected the codename to a forthcoming Intel SoC that pairs Intel CPU cores with an Nvidia RTX graphics component, as opposed to the company’s own Arc graphics technology.
Implications of an Nvidia-equipped Serpent Lake for Intel
Serpent Lake first emerged in leaked roadmaps this year and quickly garnered interest due to its reported integration of an Nvidia graphics component instead of Intel's graphics technology. This naturally raises concerns regarding the future of Intel’s Arc graphics division, particularly following the company’s recent advancements in handheld gaming with the Arc G3 processor.
An Nvidia-oriented Serpent Lake chip wouldn’t necessarily indicate the end of Arc graphics in Intel's laptop processors and SoCs. A more plausible scenario is that Serpent Lake targets specific sectors, such as AI-centric PCs and premium mobile workstations, while Intel continues to enhance its in-house graphics for mainstream offerings. Nvidia is already targeting those same markets with its RTX Spark platform, which focuses on AI computing and remote workstation tasks.
Serpent Lake's role in Intel's strategic outlook
Previous roadmap leaks positioned Serpent Lake alongside several upcoming Intel architectures, including Nova Lake, Razor Lake, and Titan Lake. Serpent Lake is reportedly a branch of the Titan Lake processors, which are expected to be exclusively mobile CPUs.
If the roadmap is accurate, Serpent Lake would likely be one of Intel’s most unconventional processor projects in recent years. The integration of Intel CPU cores and Nvidia graphics would signify a considerable shift from Intel’s traditional processor strategy, potentially leading to one of the company's most distinctive products in years.
