Samsung's upcoming Ultra watch could be receiving a significant battery upgrade.
A 35% larger battery and a new chip may significantly enhance the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2's battery life
Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Watch Ultra is set to feature the battery upgrade that many users have been eagerly anticipating. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is likely to be unveiled in the coming weeks, and recent reports imply it could come equipped with a considerably larger battery compared to the 2024 and 2025 versions.
According to SamMobile, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is expected to have a battery with a capacity of 784mAh. Samsung might advertise this as an 800mAh typical capacity, which would represent an increase of approximately 35% over the 590mAh battery found in the current Galaxy Watch Ultra models.
A larger battery could allow the Ultra to last closer to three days
Samsung currently states that the Galaxy Watch Ultra can last up to two days when utilizing features like GPS training mode. If the reported battery upgrade is correct, the Watch Ultra 2 could potentially reach nearly three days of usage under normal conditions, depending on display settings, workout tracking, cellular connectivity, and health monitoring.
There may be additional efficiency improvements beyond the battery. The smartwatch is also rumored to incorporate Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear Elite chip instead of Samsung’s Exynos W1000, which may further enhance battery life.
5G support might complicate battery enhancements
Another anticipated change is the inclusion of 5G support. Previous leaks have indicated that Samsung is working on a 5G version of the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, although availability may initially be restricted to regions like the US and South Korea.
This upgrade could enhance the watch's functionality without a phone, but it might also impact battery longevity. Until Samsung officially announces the watch, it remains uncertain how much of the increased battery capacity will be dedicated to meeting the power demands of 5G. It is likely that the Watch Ultra 2 will run on Wear OS 7, which Google recently presented at I/O 2026.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is anticipated to launch alongside Samsung’s new foldable devices, which are rumored to be unveiled in July 2026. Therefore, it appears we will soon discover if Samsung’s next Ultra watch truly provides the significant battery improvement suggested by recent reports.

Telegram makes a stylish return to Wear OS smartwatches
Telegram has re-emerged on Wear OS, which is a welcome development for many Android smartwatch users. The messaging app's latest update brings a brand-new smartwatch application for both Apple Watch and Android Wear OS. This update allows users to access Telegram directly from their wrist, enabling more seamless chat browsing, reading longer messages, viewing media, and sharing and listening to voice notes, among other features.
While this may seem like basic smartwatch functionality, Telegram has been absent from Wear OS since 2021. Thus, Android watch users have had to rely on notifications or third-party alternatives if they wished to avoid reaching for their phones.
