Users of the Galaxy S25 are finally receiving some of the One UI 8.5 AI features that were previously missing.
Notifications like Prioritize Notifications, Summarize Notifications, and File Summaries are now available on the Galaxy S25, but the Now Nudge feature is still absent.
Last month, Samsung released the One UI 8.5 update for the Galaxy S25 series, but users soon realized that several AI features found in the Galaxy S26 series were lacking. This caused confusion and dissatisfaction among Galaxy S25 users, who began to wonder about the extent of Samsung's long-term software support.
Samsung appears to be addressing part of this issue with the June 2026 update, which is said to introduce three of the previously missing AI features to the Galaxy S25 series. The update has commenced in South Korea and includes the June 2026 Android security patch, with the firmware version S938NKSUACZF1.
The newly added Galaxy AI features include Prioritize Notifications, Summarize Notifications, and File Summaries, which were initially introduced with the Galaxy S26 series but were absent when One UI 8.5 first launched for the Galaxy S25.
Prioritize Notifications utilizes Galaxy AI to elevate critical alerts within the notification shade, making it unnecessary for users to sift through all updates manually. Summarize Notifications condenses lengthy notification threads into brief summaries, which can be beneficial for managing busy group chats, email notifications, or numerous app alerts.
File Summaries is also being integrated into the Galaxy S25 series. Reports indicate that this feature can summarize supported local files, such as PDF and TXT documents. Some sources also mention that it supports voice recordings, although this detail is not consistently reported.
While this update should alleviate some frustration regarding the One UI 8.5 rollout for the Galaxy S25, it does not achieve complete feature parity with the Galaxy S26 series.
Features like Now Nudge, the 24MP camera mode, enhanced fingerprint accuracy option, and various camera tools are still not available. Nonetheless, Galaxy S25 users might feel some relief, as this latest update suggests that earlier omissions may have been due to the features not being ready for the S25 rather than a deliberate withholding by Samsung. The update is expected to be available in more regions over the next few days.

Apple has adjusted the Liquid Glass feature, providing users more control over it.
The recent changes in iOS 27 allow users to modify the translucency of the Liquid Glass effect, while macOS Golden Gate introduces similar controls in the System Settings. Liquid Glass remains prominent across Apple's platforms, seamlessly enhancing menus and panels with its stylish UI appearance. After a year of promoting translucency as the future direction, the most significant design update from WWDC may now be the introduction of the option to tone it down.

Samsung's One UI 9 is set to introduce features that many Android phones have had for a while.
Samsung is in the midst of testing One UI 9 with beta users of the Galaxy S26, revealing a long-awaited feature: the network speed indicator. This simple status bar addition is a common tool on other Android devices, making it surprising that Galaxy phones have been without it for so long. The feature is available even on budget Android phones from manufacturers like OnePlus, Oppo, and Xiaomi, providing real-time upload and download data in the status bar while connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data, allowing users to quickly assess their connection's performance.

If you’re expecting smartphone prices to decrease, Nothing’s CEO has delivered some disappointing news.
Carl Pei, co-founder of Nothing, addressed the smartphone market on X, sharing that 2026 is reshaping pricing in ways not seen before. He noted that a key component now constitutes more than 50% of the total hardware cost, suggesting that consumers should stop waiting for better deals if they were hoping for discounts on models released earlier in the year.
