The latest Tesla FSD update includes a new feature that showcases a preview of your vehicle's parking strategy.
Version 14.3.4 presents the car's intended parking approach on the screen before initiating the maneuver, enhancing the predictability of supervised autonomy.
Tesla has begun the rollout of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) version 14.3.4, which includes a notable enhancement that adds a more refined touch to the end of a journey. This update introduces a new dialog box that appears as the car nears its destination, displaying to the driver the method it intends to park before executing the maneuver.
A robotaxi-like arrival experience
The new prompt appears on the display when FSD is close to a destination, informing the driver of the planned parking method, which can be a street spot, a parking lot, or curbside. Tesla owner Devin Olsen, who posted footage of the feature on X, described it as feeling “100% like being in a robotaxi or Waymo,” emphasizing that it eliminates uncertainty during the final phase of an FSD-assisted journey.

Elon Musk confirmed the rollout on X, and Tesla’s official release notes for version 14.3.4 indicate that parking options are now displayed on the map when nearing a destination. While the capability to park at the destination isn’t new, having been included in FSD (Supervised) version 14.1, version 14.3.4 brings in the dialog box with parking options, which is a welcomed improvement for user experience.
Global expansion continues
This update coincides with Tesla’s international expansion of its FSD rollout. In May, Tesla confirmed that FSD (Supervised) is now available in China, alongside the US, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Lithuania, and the Netherlands as active markets. In Europe, the system has also received regulatory approval in Estonia, Denmark, and Belgium.

The destination dialog feature is a small but significant step toward making supervised autonomy feel more transparent. As FSD expands into new markets and drivers experience it for the first time, revealing the car’s intentions prior to action will be crucial in building trust, something Tesla has struggled to establish even among its AI trainers.

This small sensor could enhance self-driving cars and robots' visibility in low light
Researchers from Penn State have created a light-adaptive photomemristor inspired by the human eye, achieving over 95% visual accuracy in varying light conditions.
Penn State researchers have developed a light-sensitive sensor component that could significantly improve the reliability of autonomous vehicle cameras and robots in different lighting environments. The study, published on Monday in Nature Communications, draws direct inspiration from how the human eye adapts between bright and dim settings.

Rivian R2 first drive: A mid-sized EV game-changer exceeding expectations
Innovative engineering meets practical performance in an impressively premium $50K electric SUV.
Rivian has officially introduced the R2, a smaller and more affordable two-row electric SUV. Despite the reduced price, the company appears to have maintained high standards for the new vehicle. Instead, many savings seem to stem from more efficient engineering practices.
Notable efficiency improvements can be observed in aspects like the vehicle's wiring, which has eliminated about two miles of cable compared to the R1. Additionally, several of the vehicle's systems and chipsets have been miniaturized and streamlined.
Rivian R2 SUV deliveries have commenced, but the version most buyers might prefer is not yet available.
As anticipated, Rivian has begun delivering its R2 electric SUV. The first variant reaching customers is the R2 Performance with Launch Package, starting at $57,990 before fees. This model provides early R2 buyers with the most powerful option in the confirmed lineup, featuring dual-motor all-wheel drive, 656 horsepower, 609 lb-ft of torque, and an EPA-estimated range of up to 330 miles. Rivian claims it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds.
