Telegram has discreetly made its comeback on WearOS smartwatches, and it appears quite stylish.
Telegram is making a return to smartwatches
Telegram has made its way back to Wear OS, and this is a significant revival for many Android smartwatch users. The messaging app's latest update features a completely new smartwatch application for both Apple Watch and Android Wear OS. This allows users to access Telegram directly from their wrist, enabling easier browsing of chats, reading longer messages, viewing media, and even sharing and listening to voice notes, among other functions.
While these may appear as basic smartwatch features, Telegram has been absent from Wear OS since 2021. For years, Android watch users had to rely solely on notifications or third-party solutions if they wanted to avoid using their phones.

At last, a genuine wrist application for Telegram
The smartwatch update from Telegram goes beyond a mere reply-from-notification system. As per the announcement, users can explore chats and media, manage their conversations, and read messages regardless of length. On the Android front, Telegram has indicated that developers have incorporated features to mute chats, pin conversations, and delete messages.
Apple Watch users will receive a slightly different range of features at launch, such as location previews and stickers. Telegram humorously mentioned plans for both platform teams to exchange features in future updates to enhance consistency across the experience.
Why this is beneficial for modern Wear OS
With Wear OS no longer the stagnant platform it was in previous years, this is an ideal moment for the update. The Pixel Watch and Galaxy Watch models are providing Android users with more reputable smartwatch options, and messaging remains one of the most essential functions a watch can perform effectively. Telegram's absence had previously made the platform feel somewhat incomplete for daily users. Although it’s a minor update, it sufficiently enhances the experience of engaging with long chats, active channels, and voice notes directly on the wrist.
