Google's latest Gemini TV controls have arrived, and TCL owners are the first to benefit from them.
Your TCL TV can now self-adjust its picture using a simple voice command.
Adjusting the settings on your Google TV can often seem straightforward, until you find yourself navigating through multiple menus in search of the brightness slider. Google has recently improved this process.
The company has introduced new controls for Gemini, with TCL as the exclusive launch partner, allowing TCL TV owners to access this feature for the initial 60 days before it becomes available to other Google TV brands.
What are the new capabilities of the Gemini TV controls?
Instead of sifting through various settings, you can simply speak to your TV. You can ask Gemini to modify the brightness, contrast, volume, and picture modes with your voice. If something appears or sounds off, you can describe the issue in simple terms.
Phrases like “the screen is too dark” or “I can’t hear the dialogue” will lead Gemini to make the adjustments for you. You can also request that Gemini fine-tune settings based on what you are viewing or quickly navigate to the settings menu without having to click through numerous screens. This small feature ultimately saves you time each time you use it.
Which TCL TVs will receive this update?
The update is currently being rolled out to select 2025 and 2026 TCL Google TV models in the US. The compatible models include the QM9K, QM7L, RM7L, X11L, QM9L, QM8L, and RM9L. It remains uncertain whether older TCL models like the QM6K, QM7K, or QM8K will receive the update at a later date.
Additionally, the timing is noteworthy. With the FIFA World Cup starting this summer, having quick voice control over your picture and sound settings before a major match is a valuable enhancement. The company is also introducing a dedicated World Cup Hub on Google TV that features live match updates, schedules, highlights, and YouTube content.
