The cursed town of Widow’s Bay still has more in store for you.
If you've already become fascinated by the odd mysteries and supernatural antics of Widow’s Bay, there’s some good news. Apple TV has officially greenlit a second season of the horror-comedy just before the first season finale, which airs on June 17. However, Apple has yet to announce a release date.
This early renewal reflects strong confidence in a show that has quickly emerged as one of the streaming service’s biggest hits. The renewal comes alongside a new multiyear overall deal with creator, showrunner, and executive producer Katie Dippold.
What can we anticipate in season 2 of Widow’s Bay?
The series centers on Mayor Tom Loftis, portrayed by Emmy winner Matthew Rhys, a well-intentioned but exceptionally timid individual trying to transform a cursed island into a tourist hotspot. Against all odds, he achieves success, but the island soon reminds everyone why locals feared it in the first place.
Katie Dippold teased intriguingly about what to expect next in Widow’s Bay: “Season two is about how everything is fantastic on the island, and there’s nothing to be concerned about.”
Combining authentic horror with sharp character-driven humor, the show has received Certified Fresh status on Rotten Tomatoes and is viewed as one of the top offerings on Apple TV. The renewal comes prior to the season one finale, providing fans assurance that the storyline will continue past its current cliffhangers.
What’s next for Apple TV?
There are also many new releases to look forward to. Ted Lasso season 4 is set to premiere on August 5, and Slow Horses will return for its sixth season on September 16, 2026, as confirmed by Apple today.
Apple TV is currently home to Pluribus, which holds the status of its most-watched drama, along with the global sensation Severance. With such a strong lineup, Widow’s Bay is precisely the type of original content that keeps audiences subscribed.
