The third season of Silo is finally set to reveal how the world came to an end.

Apple TV’s popular sci-fi series is returning, and the new trailer for Silo season 3 reveals that the show is finally set to address its biggest mystery: how did the world end?

The ten-episode third season will debut on July 3, with new episodes released every Friday until September 4. If this trailer is any indication, the wait has definitely been worthwhile.

Juliette is back, but she’s not quite herself.

Rebecca Ferguson’s Juliette managed to survive the incinerator at the conclusion of season 2, but she did not come out unscathed. She has lost all her memories, and that’s where the intrigue begins.

Camille Sims (Alexandria Riley) has been feeding her a fabricated narrative for three months, and mysterious pills shown in the trailer seem to be involved in keeping those memories suppressed. A voice known only as The Algorithm confirms this by telling Camille that Juliette has only possessed the memories provided to her.

There’s even a mysterious note warning Juliette against taking the unknown pills, indicating that someone out there wants her to recall her past. This manipulation of memory signifies a bold shift from Hugh Howey’s Wool novels and adds an extra layer of suspense.

The trailer also hints that Juliette might assume the role of mayor of the silo in season 3, stepping into a position of power she doesn’t remember earning. Furthermore, a countdown in the trailer suggests that the silo itself is running out of time.

As one character ominously states, the level of panic if people were aware of how little time they had left would be unfathomable. Meanwhile, Steve Zahn returns as Solo, whose fate remained uncertain at the end of season 2.

The past timeline is where Silo season 3 gets particularly intriguing.

While Juliette's story propels the contemporary plot, the trailer’s most thrilling aspect is its exploration of the past. Journalist Helen Drew (Jessica Henwick) and Congressman Daniel Keene (Ashley Zukerman), who were briefly introduced in the season 2 finale, are now key characters.

Their narrative is set centuries prior to the silo events and draws heavily from Shift, the second book in Howey’s trilogy. The pair uncover a conspiracy involving what seems to be a radiological weapon attack—a series of events that ultimately forced humanity to seek refuge underground. As the trailer tagline states, “the truth lies in the past.”

Joining the cast this season are Laura Innes, Jessica Brown Findlay, Morven Christie, Reed Birney, Matt Craven, and Colin Hanks. Silo season 3 appears to have recaptured everything that made season 1 so compelling—the paranoia, the mystery, and that unsettling feeling that no one can be trusted.

With an origin story now stretching back centuries, this is shaping up to be its most ambitious installment yet. If you haven't started watching, now is the ideal time to catch up before July 3.
