YouTube has introduced three new podcast features, but these are exclusively available to Premium subscribers.
YouTube Premium is introducing three new features to compete with Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
Subscribers who enjoy podcasts will be pleased to hear this update, which underscores YouTube's commitment to challenging audio-focused apps like Spotify and Apple Podcasts, especially as Netflix increases its investment in video podcasts.
What are the new podcast features for YouTube Premium subscribers?
The first feature is On-the-go mode, which is the most practical of the three. This mode offers an audio-friendly layout with a static image and simplified controls for skipping forward or backward, making it ideal for those who are on the move, commuting, or multitasking. It is currently available on Android, with an iOS version expected to follow in the coming months.
The second feature is Auto speed, which automatically modifies the playback speed of the podcast based on the audio content. It accelerates when the host speaks slowly and slows down during dense or intricate discussions. This feature is essentially a smarter enhancement of the existing manual speed control and is also available on Android now, with an iOS version coming soon.
The third new feature expands Ask Music, YouTube’s AI recommendation tool that helps create personalized playlists and radio stations in the YouTube Music app, now extending its capabilities to podcasts as well.
Users can request suggestions based on their mood, specific genres, or preferred shows, allowing the tool to suggest something new. This feature is accessible to YouTube Music Premium and Premium subscribers in select countries.
These updates come at a significant moment, as YouTube Premium prices in the U.S. are set to rise in June, and these enhancements aim to justify the increased cost for podcast listeners.

Halide Mark III brings artistic film effects to one of the top camera apps for iPhone.
Featuring stunning film-inspired aesthetics, a robust photo editing lab, and all the necessary tools integrated, Halide has become my preferred camera app because I dislike the overly processed images typically produced by iPhones. Its Process Zero capture mode revitalizes photos by eliminating any additional processing done by Apple, resulting in images that resemble those taken with a classic camera. It’s so highly regarded that even Apple attempted to acquire it.
Halide Mark II was already among the best camera apps for the iPhone, and now Lux Optics, the team behind Halide, has launched Halide Mark III, a significant update that seeks to be the only camera app users will ever need, and from what I've seen, it could very well succeed.
Google Chrome is receiving a security update that might go unnoticed, but it’s essential.
Google has discreetly rolled out a significant browser security enhancement that many users may not even realize is happening, which is likely intentional.
Device Bound Session Credentials (DBSC) is now live in Chrome for Windows users of Google Workspace, including individual subscribers and those with personal accounts. This feature is enabled by default, eliminating the need for users to adjust any settings.
A new leak depicts the OnePlus 16 as the Android flagship you desire… although it may not be readily available.
OnePlus often creates flagship devices that excite us with both their specifications and competitive pricing, only to complicate matters later.
The OnePlus 16 appears to follow this trend, showcasing specifications that seem deliberately excessive, accompanied by strange availability rumors suggesting that it may not be accessible to most of the global market.
