Scammers are profiting from GTA 6 even before Rockstar sells a single unit.
Fake GTA 6 beta scams are targeting eager fans
While some gamers are lamenting the passing of the expected GTA 6 release date (May 26), others are falling victim to scams. Rockstar Games has not yet released one of its most anticipated titles, nor is there an official public beta available. This has created an opportunity for scammers to take advantage of impatient fans.
According to a report from NordVPN's Threat Intelligence team, cybercriminals are capitalizing on the huge interest surrounding Grand Theft Auto VI by offering fake installers, phony beta access, Android adware, and phishing sites. This comes as the studio prepares to begin pre-orders for the game, which is slated to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
How do these scams operate?
The predominant scam revolves around false early access claims. NordVPN reports that scam websites are advertising exclusive beta keys for PS5 and Xbox Series consoles, then directing users through forms, bot verifications, paid subscriptions, or potentially unwanted applications.
Additionally, there is a fraudulent Android app named “GTA 6 Beta” that mimics Rockstar's branding and features an introductory video, but it does not contain an actual game. Instead, it displays full-screen advertisements and redirects users to subscription traps or additional malware hidden behind fake verification processes.
Even worse, fake repacks are being circulated
Despite there being no official schedule for a PC version, these malicious actors are using piracy and repack sites to ensnare unsuspecting users. This includes counterfeit versions of popular sites such as FitGirl, DODI, and ElAmigos. A sample detected earlier this month was concealing a harmful file in the background, with the victim only seeing a legitimate-looking installer.
The best recommendation is to disregard anything that appears too good to be true. There is no “public beta,” “PC beta,” or “mobile beta” available. Avoid clicking on any links that are not from the official Rockstar, PlayStation, or Xbox websites for further information about the game.

Discord has finally upgraded support for Snapdragon Windows laptops
Windows users on the ARM platform are receiving improved support from Discord, which is now providing a dedicated version for Windows on ARM—a feature that should have been implemented earlier. Discord is natively available on ARM-based laptops, and the download page now offers separate options for Windows x64 and ARM64 for the desktop app. This means that users with Qualcomm Snapdragon devices, including the latest Copilot+ PCs, no longer need to rely on the standard Windows app running through emulation.
