The Vivaldi 8.0 update has made returning to Chrome more challenging than ever.
The Vivaldi browser has received a complete redesign that you're sure to appreciate.

Had it not been for my affection for the Arc Browser, which has unfortunately been left behind, I would have opted for Vivaldi. No other browser comes close to matching its customization options and features. With the recent version 8.0 update, Vivaldi strengthens its case for users to switch from other browsers.
I appreciate that while browsers like Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge are focused on integrating AI everywhere, Vivaldi has been quietly rolling out features that users genuinely want.
The standout feature is a new design approach called “Unified.” Previously, the components of the browser, such as tabs, toolbars, panels, and the content area, felt like separate, somewhat disjointed layers. The Unified design eliminates those separations, creating a seamless interface.
Is this merely a cosmetic update or something more substantive?
When you apply a theme in Vivaldi 8.0, it seamlessly integrates throughout the browser. A dark theme appears uniformly dark across the entire interface, rather than just in selected areas. Wallpapers are integrated into the browsing experience, feeling like an inherent part of the environment instead of an overlay. When a wallpaper is chosen, it extends beyond the main window to the top bar, address bar, and tabs, producing a cohesive appearance.

Vivaldi has introduced a new set of default themes, and if you don’t find one that suits you, there are over 7,000 community themes available. If you prefer the previous design, you can retain it. This is Vivaldi, after all, and user choice is paramount.
Feeling daunted by the plethora of options?
One challenge with Vivaldi has been that its extensive customization capabilities can overwhelm users. To address this, Vivaldi 8.0 introduces six preset layouts to assist new users in getting started.

You can select from a simple, minimal setup, side tab placements, a full-screen browsing mode, or the classic Vivaldi interface. I appreciate this move from Vivaldi, as it will facilitate a smoother onboarding process for users. If you like what you see, Vivaldi 8.0 is available for free download today on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Microsoft is addressing a Windows 11 search problem that has likely frustrated you repeatedly.
Bing may finally stop appearing ahead of your local files in Windows Search.
Windows 11 has its share of irritations, but I have frequently found Search to be among the most exasperating. When searching for an installed app or a file saved on your computer, Windows often appears to present the correct result. However, when you click it, Microsoft Edge opens a Bing search page instead. This is a minor issue but it renders Windows Search unreliable for straightforward local searches. Fortunately, in the latest insider experimental build, Microsoft appears to be tackling this problem.

AI is enhancing “wizards” on 4Chan who fulfill requests to create nude images of women.
A new analysis from ISD and reporting from WIRED reveal how 4chan users solicit, produce, praise, and disseminate nonconsensual AI-generated nudes of women.
4chan has turned into a hub for AI image exploitation, where anonymous users ask editors to transform regular photos of women into artificial sexual images without consent. The Institute for Strategic Dialogue examined 7,616 English-language posts from December 2025 to March 2026, discovering that 2,927 included terminology associated with nudification or image alterations. WIRED adds a human element, detailing a culture of requests and rewards where those producing the fake images are regarded as skilled workers.
