tvOS 27 is finally introducing this iOS accessibility feature, and your eyes will appreciate it.
No more squinting at your TV screen.
Apple's tvOS updates can be hit or miss each year. Occasionally, WWDC unveils a truly exciting array of Apple TV features, while at other times, viewers are left questioning their decision to tune in. With the reveal of tvOS 27 approaching next month, the rumor mill has been relatively quiet. However, Apple did confirm at least one new feature this week, and it's a helpful addition.
So, what can we expect from tvOS 27?
iOS offers a text size accessibility feature allowing users to enlarge text on their iPhones, which is incredibly beneficial for those with visual impairments. Until now, tvOS has lacked this feature, but that's set to change with the upcoming tvOS 27 update, which Apple will announce during its WWDC 2026 event.
As part of the preview for its accessibility updates, Apple confirmed that tvOS 27 will introduce a new system-wide text size setting. This means you'll be able to adjust text size across the entire interface, not just within a specific app or menu.
This might not sound like a big deal, but it is significant. Currently, there is no straightforward, universal way to increase text size on Apple TV. If you've found yourself leaning in to read episode titles or squinting at menus, that issue will be resolved with tvOS 27.
Is this the sole new feature?
The unusual lack of rumors regarding tvOS 27 is surprising, but with WWDC fast approaching, Apple tends to reserve its surprises for the event. More tvOS features will be unveiled, but it's uncertain whether there will be any major enhancements.
Some aspects of the upcoming revised Siri might be integrated into current Apple TV models, which would be a nice addition. For now, we can confirm larger text, which genuinely enhances the experience for many users.
I would be pleased to see Apple improve typing functionality on tvOS, as it can be buggy and frustrating. Additionally, I would welcome new Apple TV 4K hardware that could support more AI features. Google TV recently introduced new AI-driven functionalities, and I’d love for some of those to come to Apple TV.
With just about two weeks until WWDC, the sparse rumors are concerning, but hopefully Apple has something unexpected planned.

Spotify implements verified podcast badges to ensure you're listening to the authentic host, rather than an AI replica.
Spotify is taking action against AI voice fakes and providing real creators with their badge of recognition.
After launching verified artist badges for music creators, Spotify has now announced verified podcast badges, assuring you are tuning into your favorite hosts, not an AI impersonator. The badge will feature a light green checkmark on show pages and search results, indicating that the show has undergone authenticity verification. Not all shows will receive the badge initially; Spotify is starting with select shows and will expand in the upcoming months.
YouTube offers Gemini Omni for free, but its best AI search features remain behind a paywall.
At Google I/O 2026, YouTube users received a complimentary AI-enhanced creative studio, while premium search upgrades are reserved for paid subscribers.
During the I/O 2026 event, Google revamped two core YouTube experiences, resulting in genuinely useful improvements. First, YouTube search is being enhanced with a new feature called Ask YouTube, which operates similarly to AI Mode for the platform's extensive video library. Additionally, there's Gemini Omni, Google's “create anything from anything” tool, available in the YouTube Shorts Remix and Create app, marking a significant announcement for creators. However, while Omni is currently free, Ask YouTube will be behind a paywall.
Plex's decision to push its users into a subscription trap has left me somewhat frustrated.
The best deal in streaming has suddenly tripled in price overnight.
As a long-time Plex user who genuinely appreciates what the app offers, I was taken aback by their recent announcement. Plex is raising the price of its Lifetime Plex Pass from $249.99 to $749.99 effective July 1, 2026. This isn't just a price hike; it's a 200% increase, and the way they've packaged it only adds to my annoyance. This follows last year's price increase, which raised the lifetime pass from $119.99 to $249.99, in addition to the remote pass price rise announced last month.
